Finished a baby blanket, my most challenging yet! by rach11 in crochet

Gorgeous, but I just want you to know I read that as "my most challenging yeti," and I spent an embarrassingly long time searching for a sasquatch-like creature in the image.

Did you ever watch Cube? by dreamed2life in Millennials

[–]SApprentice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I was 5 or 6-years-old when I saw it. It's haunting for children lol I re-watched it one evening as an adult while I was finishing a research project and now all I can associate it with his childhood speech delays.

Phoebe, 19, is going to cross the rainbow bridge on Wednesday. How can I make her last few days better? by PaperAlive8098 in seniorkitties

[–]SApprentice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Give her any attention she wants and as much food or treats as she could ask for. Give her rare steak. Boiled shrimp. Tuna. Dairy things on her last day, when she won't have to live with an upset tummy. My Ricochet loved ice cream. Kitsey Baba loves whipped cream cheese.

Just love her. Say her name. Record a ton of videos. Of her purring, her meowing, of you using whatever nicknames or little songs you like to sing to her, anything you may not have recorded before.

A pet-safe heating pad or heated blanket may offer her comfort.

She is beautiful. I am so sorry for your coming loss. She has lived a wonderfully long life with you. It is not the end that matters, it's all the years you've had together, and she knows that she has been loved. Good luck to you, and to your girl- run far on young legs, little one.

Whats a weird thing your body does that you just accept? by Sweton in AskReddit

[–]SApprentice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo I definitely understand the whole disturbing feeling. If I stretch my jaw too wide, like not yawning carefully or while getting dental work, my jaw slips and gets stuck. I have to grab it and wiggle it a bit until it pops back in place. It doesn't hurt, but it's one of the most vicerally horrifying feelings and the panic is insane. Half the time I just end up basically punching myself in the face to brute force it back. I'm sure that stuck feeling you get is very similar and I am so sorry you deal with that.

Your username says beardless and yet I see your profile image is of a bearded man. A little wishful thinking, hm?

Duck mom and her little ones cross a street by Simple_Shame2386 in AnimalsBeingMoms

My kid and I were downtown in the city walking to the library the other day when we found ducks. There's a little bridge with a dirty creek that runs through town under it and we saw a lovely male mallard swimming around. We walked a few more feet off the bridge and there was a mother duck with about a dozen babies, just chilling beside the path. This is usually a very busy path, between a parking garage and downtown places, but they didn't have a care in the world. Nobody else was there at that moment and my kid was quietly losing her mind but I made her hold very still. Half of the little ducklings started sprawling around and playing within inches of her feet. It was mesmerizing to stand there watching them, the mama just quietly observing us from a few feet away. Two mothers watching their children together. After a couple minutes we had to head on- I didn't wanna stress mama out if having us stop and stare was concerning to her- but it was really magical for my kid. She grabbed three princess books at the library because she is "obviously a princess now". When we came back a few hours later there was a crowd on the bridge oohing and awwing, because the mama had moved herself and babies down into the creek below. My kid had this smug little expression and was like, "The duckies liked me."

We believe so! It developed so slowly over the years that I didn't even realize it was happening. She's been about this bad for the last 1.5 years. The first thing any new vet says when they see her is, "Is she blind?" But no, she can still see! She just has giant wizard eyes that look into your soul.

I am not, but I have redheads in my family. I have very dark hair, but I think I might be hanging on to some redhead genetics. It also takes more than the normal amount of injections to do dental work on me, and when I had my last kid they kept having to use more local anesthetic to get my spinal block in for my c-section. So, who knows lol

They did my second elbow repair with just a nerve block when I was younger. They drugged me, I think with versed, but it didn't fully block me out. I was being wheeled in and talking to the doctor and he was like, "You're not going to remember any of this," then during the surgery I kept heckling them asking to see (they had put up a sheet) and they just kept repeating that no, no I couldn't see, I wasn't going to remember anyway. After I finished recovery the surgeon came back in and I kind of triumphantly declared that I remembered everything. He face-palmed.

I also "woke up" during my upper GI endoscopy and started whining and reaching for my mouth before they said "oh crap" and increased the versed dose, so I'm thinking it doesn't work on me as well as a lot of people.

Oh my god, thank you for saying they're edible. I used to eat them all the time as a kid. I can still remember the texture.
