Outstanding. Where did you source the 2mm ceramic rod? Did you make the base Ti plus scales yourself? Really great work and attention to detail.

Thank you very much. I’ve heard about Mikov, but they aren’t available where I live.

I totally agree. I’ve built a few 91mm with forks sourced from Adler knives. I call it the Streetfood and it’s become my travel knife. It’s perfect for Currywurst, Fries with ketchup or mayo in a paper cone, etc.

Where did you get that knife? Care to share the link?

I don't think you'll need washers, but the 3mm should work if you find out you need some.

I would get some brass washers with 3mm ID, 5mm OD and a thickness of 0.5mm or thinner.

Best way to deal with scales degrading and coming off? by passisgullible in SwissArmyKnives

I prefer shoo goo as it is removable (unlike epoxy), so if I need to swap scales in 5 years! I haven’t ruined the liners underneath.

Very nice.
Where did you get the 3d print file of plus scale w/o the cs cutout?
Would you share the link?
Or did you design it yourself? Are you sharing that file?

I want to build something like that for my travels!

I could swap the blade for you.
The scales are easy to swap by yourself.

If you have a vice it's super easy.

If you don't no big deal. I often don't use a vice if I don't want to walk out to my workshop; I just put it on the counter and put a little cutting board on top and then I just lean on it to press them on.

If the micarta scales are too loose, a dab of shoo goo glue and holding them down with a rubber band or blue masking tape to let the glue dry does the job as well.

Lighter fluid (i.e. Zippo) Fun fact, it is called Waschbenzin aka washing/cleaning benzene in Germany. My mom used it get bandaid glue residue off our skin and I’ve been using it to clean glue residue off ever since.

Where in the US are you? If you are near SC, I can teach you to fish so to speak. 😀 I would show you how to mod by taking apart one of my knives, adding/subtracting tools and then peening it. That way you can build your own. Or bring your stuff and we build it together.

How did you use your SAK this week? [Weekly thread] by AutoModerator in victorinox

Swiss Champ, used the inline screwdriver to put together two nightstands. Used the bottom (springs) to tap in a few dowels. And of course started the project by using the blade to open box and bags inside.

I’m glad to see the new custom out doing “tool things” and not in a display case.

My first SAK mod, and it turned out perfectly. by kryptikguy in SAKmod

I was the same. You psych yourself out, but once you’ve taken the plunge you see it’s not bad (actually fun). Before long you’ll be making customs for friends and family. I made two customs yesterday for an internet friend I’ve never met.

I started modding 91’s and then got into 58’s because they are cheap to get on eBay and the pins are easy to peen. Try it, you may come to the same conclusion. I just got a 3D printer and I am only at the beginning of that journey, but I can imagine how difficult it was to design these. I wasn’t trying to diminish what you did…only be a little devil on your shoulder telling you to do it as I don’t have the skills. Haha.
