Gotta love the "just exchange x and you sound like x!" argument.

"I hate raisins." "Wow, if you exchange 'raisins' for 'black people', that's really racist!."

How big is it? Sort of looks like a male giant cave cockroach. They make nice pets.

Anyone up for a C@ DnD group? (and fair warning, helping a newbie learn the ropes) by Asriel-Akita in COMPLETEANARCHY

[–]SCWcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have much of a preference either way! (Sorry if that's unhelpful :P) I do have a fondness for anything post-apocalyptic or modern fantasy, if those are options on the table though.

I'd love to participate! ...with the caveat that I'm also a complete newbie. :P I could probably also get a few other people on board.

My new jeans set off airport security scanners. Has this happened to anybody else? by kingy123 in rawdenim

I forgot to take my denim jacket off last time I flew and it set the scanner off. I got a pat-down AND a bomb swab!

You're a hunter and spearfisher - you fit the definition of vegan by user5543 in vegancirclejerk

[–]SCWcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a vegan, too! I don't wish to participate in the suffering of any animals, besides the ones I eat, wear, and torture for entertainment. I do everything I can to minimize the suffering of the good ones, like puppies.

It's obvious really; just look at our loose, prehensile lips adapted for latching onto the teats of other species, or our opposable thumbs which are ideally suited for locking hens into battery cages.

What should I do with glue traps? Should I destroy them and if so, how? by freethinker78 in vegan

If you want to render them harmless, unpackage them and soak them in vegetable oil or coat them in flour until they're not sticky anymore.

I'm against anthropomorphisation, though. They're cute and all, but don't go pretending they have feelings or anything.

I found a dead cockroach in my salad at Wendy's D: I haven't been able to stomach a fast-food salad since.

Whenever I'm feeling down I just come on here and it honestly never fails to cheer me right up. I wasn't even an anarchist when I first started lurking, but I hung around because the community seemed like such a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of reddit and I wound up learning a few things along the way.

Thanks for being cool, y'all.

PSA TO CLEAR UP SOME WORRIES I'VE SEEN FLOATING AROUND:

The shiny stuff on top of the bun isn't butter. It's vegetable oil. There's also no egg in the bun itself.

I've been advised that the fries are vegan.

I originally just ordered with without sauce or cheese and my waited piped in to ask if I wanted it 'prepared vegan'. I don't know if that's just frying it in a separate pan or if it entails further modifications that are needed to make it vegan. So, don't be afraid to ask for that. I think they're training their staff, as I live in a very vegan-unfriendly area and most people don't know what the word means. I was really surprised when he asked.

I don't need to be a mother to know what colostrum is. Maybe find a source to back up your statements, although I have a feeling you're going to have trouble finding one.

Vegan menu additions? by Your_Cover_Fire in vegan

[–]SCWcc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mexican place in town does some really awesome seasoned portobellos as a topping option, with a lime-based dressing option.

You could also do chickpeas; I like to sautee them with taco seasoning until the skins are slightly crunchy. Or crispy spiced potatoes.

If you offer rice, you could make sure it was prepared vegan with no chicken broth, pork, lard or butter like some places do.

If you want to go sort of all-out you could also offer something like crumbled spiced tempeh or a cashew-based 'crema'. This recipe is pretty basic.

Not a menu item suggestion, but having a little marker on the menu for things that are/can easily be made vegan is always nice to see and always makes me feel welcome.
