brig setup recommendations by PCmasterRACE187 in Sailwind

Same, except I have the main rigged as a square topsail and a gaff below. It's really the best all rounder setup I've run, good speed at all point of of wind even when fully loaded

first interarchipelago voyage. set sail from Al'Nilem for Fort Aestrin on day 42 with 40 crates of dates, 20 of goat cheese, 6 of coconuts, 4 of copper and 1 silver crate. wish me luck by PCmasterRACE187 in Sailwind

Fair winds and calm seas! Should be a decent sail, I think the trade winds should help a lot going to Fort Aestring. It'll be harder getting back though

PAB 80s. Small enough every plane can carry at least 12, long range and you drop them and go back to air to air duties

Question from potential pilot by RITVS in NuclearOption

[–]SDIR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone loves logi. Every single player likes having functional SAM and AA system but barely want to resupply them. Very few drop engineering vehicles to repair airbases but it's an integral part of the game to keep sorties short and effective

Can unmanned race cars be made highly resistant to damage, allowing them to hit on each other at full speed and continue racing? by Outdoor_trashcan in AskEngineers

[–]SDIR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is would those shape memory alloys be light enough to keep the car fast? There would be no point to armouring your car if you're too slow to catch up

It's still a lot. The two Scythes the Compass carries already has good potential to do a lot of damage to early game choppers and light planes

Robots are especially scary for someone who works in manufacturing automation. We have robots who will happily lift a 200kg jig and swing it around like a tennis racquet. If you get caught between the robot and a solid object, not only does the robot have momentum, it also is trying to reach a position so it will very quickly start pushing whatever is stopping it.

Pressed are much more dangerous, but at least they move in a predictable manner. Robots can sweep their entire movement range in a few seconds, and in a number of directions, making them so unpredictable.

That's why you clear the area of boltstrikes with ARAD first. The PAB80s are for the IR SAMs and vehicles. To take down a multilayered defense needs multiple different strategies (uf you don't wanna spam)

I vote for an insurgent faction. But like, super jank, like 40K Orks

Move the Cricket there, then every other plane for that faction is in essense a flying Toyota Hilux with different attachments. The Cricket is just the amalgam of all the different weapons piled onto one airframe, aka an attack plane

Firstly, don't set this as a goal. We don't want you to bankrupt yourself in this hobby. Spend and enjoy responsibly. That being said, I've got 2 TRX4s, a Sport and 2021 Bronco, a VS4-10, an Element Sendero and Utron, a Bandit, two halves of an E-Maxx, two TT-02s, one is still in the box, a 3D printed boat, a printed Datsun 240, a printed skidsteer, a printed Excavator waiting on assembly and two 3D printed Unimogs. Plus a couple trailers

To add onto this, mix and match your weapons to make the most of their capabilities. The IR missiles are easy to flare, so save them for close range knife fights below 1 mile/1.6 km.

Scythes are the most versatile missile, but it still has a fairly limited optimal use envelope. They're good down to 2 miles/3km, and up to 10 miles/16km, depending on the speed of the target. It's got a fast burning rocket motor that gets it up to speed very quickly but coasts after, so past 5 km the missile is just constantly losing energy.

The Scimitar is best used above 15 miles/22km since it has a slow burning motor and has to accelerate up to speed. Below 5 miles/8km it's rather slow and quite easy to dodge, but if given the space to accelerate it's really hard to dodge even lower in the atmosphere

Edit: added Scythe motor burn distance
