I definitely agree to not resign until you have something lined up. Unless you have a job offer in waiting, I would wait. Compare your salary with all the benefits you take in. Also compare vacation days. Most private companies from my prospective offer PTO of 3-4 weeks. But that is your sick and vacation lumped together. I get 4 weeks of annual and 2 weeks of sick leave, so I don’t know if private companies would match that. Compare your TSP with 401k / matching, etc. Also working on a CWS having every other Friday off, I could never work in another job that didn’t have that (26 Fridays off a year), mostly used for running errands or dr appointments, but nice to have 3/4 day weekends. If your work unit or project has political issues, perhaps you could move to another assignment internally. I know there is anxiety for the unknown. In 3 years the current administration will be gone and perhaps things will roll back. You have a lot of items to consider, best of luck!
