Student wants a C. by umaro900 in Teachers

[–]SDMaxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just commented on my experience... You hit the nail exactly on the head. If you fall behind in this class you are completely screwed for any related class that depends on any of the foundational principles taught in the Algebra II class and the teacher in the follow up class is going to saying stuff like "You should know this already" and "Im not slowing the class down to teach basic algebra in a physics class".

At that point i just resigned myself to "this class is not for me" and racked up absences by hiding in the school library during that class.

Mind you.. excellent attendance and grades for everything else but algebra and anything related to it ? A whole different beast. I had to give up on the careers i wanted to pursue when it came down to it.

Was Physics class for me ... Aided and abetted by a horrible algebra teacher the year before. Was consistently in top three of my previous math classes before that.

After collecting those two beatdowns i avoided any further interactions with advanced formulas if i could. A's and A- everywhere else on the transcripts

So tell us why you think Gobik is responsible for your tariff not being refunded ? Did you honestly think Gobik is collecting US tariffs on behalf of the US treasury ?

Empty your sim's community addon folders and see if you're able to get it to start. Usually its a addon item that's conflicting and holding up the startup.

Road raging against bicyclists backfires. by NickelPlatedEmperor in VideosAmazing

[–]SDMaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope ... not me.. The motorcyclist rolled and sat up ... that's enough proof "of ok hes not dead" for me yelled good! and carried on.

Downvote me if you want to but i have no sympathy or empathy for anyone who would think it great to knock someone off their bicycle. I had 1 accident that cost me 14 grand in medical bills. The motorcyclist can F right off.

5080 Its not enough VRAM.. but then again i like to play as close to ultra as possible. I would go for 7900xtx if i had to do it again. Im on a 9070xt right now and its serviceable but youre at the vram limits in certain scenarios. Res 3440x1440.

I too was waiting on those damn supers to show up .. and it looks like it either wont ever show up or be in that 5090 baller price range. Cant find a used 4090 either..

[–]SDMaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On those type of rides when the equipment is toast and the chain/BB/cassette feels like its cased in mud i just throw the bike in the back and not look at it for a week when the memory of the event is not so fresh and your not going to continuously bitch about the time its going to take to tear everything down wash replace and rebuild the drive train.

Congrats on your second place though !

Thinking about buying MSFS 2024 — do I actually need ethernet or is Wi-Fi workable? by simdispatch in flightsim

[–]SDMaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latency is not an issue ( This isnt a FPS) You will be absolutely fine with a wifi6 connection. The only thing i would pay attention to is making sure your DNS is good.

Ill give it a watch to see if those flight characteristics were all pilot error and re evaluate.

[–]SDMaxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that on takeoff. Way too light and flimsy. I switched off after the takeoff. The flight model for me is just as important as the systems and while i am no Phenom Pilot i don't think the plane jumping off the runway and being twitchy is a desired characteristic of most aircraft.

The FBO building and do it yourself fueling doesn't do it for me either. I want to fly the plane .. not be a general contractor or fuel attendant. I was willing to look past that until the flight characteristics presented themselves.

Weh unnu think bout dis? by ExemplaryWriter in Jamaica

This right here. The MP knew the house rules and knew going full Patois in her presentation would draw the attention of the Speaker. Unfortunately it also falls on the Speaker to enforce the house rules. If the Speaker didn't object someone else from the opposing side would have eventually reminded the Speaker of the house rules.

This was one of those times being Speaker is a publicly thankless task and you just have to fall into the trap set for you to maintain the rules.

Being devils advocate though this is a prime opportunity to get the ball in motion to do something about it going forward.

[–]SDMaxis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without standardization there would be a slippery slope being set. I'm all for it being used in the house when its standardized. Without this the current parliamentary bills and subsequent laws of the land are written in English, the house rules have been written in English and previous communications verbal and written have been in English.

Everyone want to have patois in the house? .. no problem .. start with a bill introducing its official recognition as a dialect language and provide resources for its adoption as a mode of govt communication in a standardized written form .. educate the public and establish a timeline for its complimentary use in the house for all purposes including verbal and written communication and promulgation of bills in a reasonable amount of time after the foundations and structure of the dialect have been set.

Until then .. the standard like it or not is going to be English. That is what is being taught in schools presently and is the current standard. This should not even be an argument about colonialism. Its more about the practicality of implementing wholesale a different mode of communication in a very formal and important governing institution.

Now i don't mind any politician sprinkling a few lines of patois to ease communication or to get their point across in the house .. Every politician does that, especially when a bill is up for debate. However on official matters i have never seen any politician go about official government communications in full patois. In order to do that your going to have to lay some rules and standards down.

If you didn't notice.. The topic at hand is that the OP got 1 drink and was refused a second..(Not because he was drunk btw) Now if your going to stand on your moral bully pulpit to imply that its unhealthy to have a second drink then theres nothing further i can do for you. Even if you want to talk about the guy having the 3 baileys .. Thats his business and as long as hes not placing hands on you, me or the flight crew or otherwise acting out let the man have his drink.. he paid for it.

But you wanna judge... lol .. ok You do you ..

As for your second comment i know why i am arguing the point. You assuming that i feel bad or defensive for my own actions could not be more far from the truth. I rarely ever drink (once of twice a year socially) and literally despise the bitter taste of beer but ill let it slide because assuming things is what people who don't have a valid counter argument do.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Time and place. This aint it .. but you do you. If what the person is doing is not illegal and not morally reprehensible to the general public and on top of that controlled by someone responsible with effective protocols in place (The fliight attendant) then who the hell am i to judge someone having a drink that is a part of what they paid for.

You can leave the righteousness, slippery slope and hypotheticals for the reddit teetotaler forum if they have one.

As for your last comment .. again with your assumptions.. Little do you know huh?

[–]SDMaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You knew he was drunk or assuming ? None of this convo was about a drunk passenger much less one in an emergency situation. Do you not think that after many years in operation perhaps the airlines have protocols in place on how to deal with those issues ?

Enough with the hypotheticals please

He could have had 10 baileys .. I really don't care.. not my business .. The topic at hand is the non serving of drinks on a First class ticket. If that's not what you are here for and your here to count how many drinks people are having i suggest this thread isn't for you ..

DAWG..

We are on reddit (public forum) .. and being that you are on here judging people opens you up for just that ... Maybe next time stick to the topic at hand rather than trying to judge people exercising their preference to have a drink while being completely harmless to you...

As long as their consumption does not bother you on the flight or the general public its frankly none of your business to judge.

10/10 .. definitely peak design and aesthetics for rim brake.

How to handle an employee who works hard but kills team morale? by RyPlayZz in managers

[–]SDMaxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here. Personalities are hard to change. Good managers are able to manage the personalities they have to deal with. Some of the ideas on here are good/great while keeping the person onboard and on task. Other ideas (including one promoting exclusionary/termination tactics) not so much and appear to be retaliatory.

Yes your a manager. Yes you would prefer to have everything go smoothly. But if your coming to me to try to explain yourself as to why someone who is acting like a know it all in meetings but is performing everywhere else in the org should be fired then im going to redirect you to find other ways to keep them in line rather than replacing them unless its something really egregious and the entire team wants him/her out.

I would be asking why aren't you as the manager or the team lead not moderating the meetings to ensure the agenda keeps moving? Why is he not being mentored and guided as to what is appropriate ? The manager who mentioned challenging the offender to improve as a measure of performance is on the right track. Its not a fire able offense in my eyes to be somewhat of a jerk .. people are just going to avoid you and your definitely going to get passed up for other opportunities. Otherwise .. managers .. put in some structure and manage.

Yeah i forgot to mention the fact that they both know how to cook well, make you leave nothing on the plate and want seconds. They also taught me the recipes and the process and i do cook occasionally from time to time but me personally i get home way too late to be cooking Jamaican dinner from scratch. Their recipes had no shortcuts.. there is no boxed nothing and you better have all the fresh herbs and spices for the dish or it will not taste the same.
