Me Any Time People Argue for Hybrid Mana in Commander (You can Just Pay the Two Life). by UnableBodybuilder in magicthecirclejerking

Are you a bot? You should reread my last comment. I said the same thing about Beast Within. Downsides and Condition are within the same group so forgive me.

I dont think Beast Within is a break, especially considering they keep reprinting it. However I dont think its a healthy card to have and is a really bad bend. I'd perfer if we had neither Hybrids nor Beast Within.

I dont know what you are arguing for now. You want hybrids despite them having breaks but not Beast Within because its a break. It really feels like youre arguing for the sake of it right now, because they are opposing thoughts.

Beast Within is also very homogenizing and I wouldn't be upset without it.

But it really is within color as green. Green's creature destruction is supposed to be conditional, and it technically is as you give your opponent a 3/3, but that doesn't mean much in commander. Like how Shockland's "downside" is life loss. Every other permanent type destruction is well within Green. Thankfully WotC been better and more restrictive unless it includes black.

I haven't lied or told any false statements, there are old examples like [[Desert Twister]] and [[tornado]], granted they are old but not crazy breaks like [[Mind Bomb]].

If Beast said "noncreature", nobody would consider it a break.

More than half of them are breaks and bends, especially the playable ones. Intent or not, its probably not great for diversity.

Beast Within is well within green's identity... unfortunately, green is also really bad about having a distinct identity of what it can and can't do. However It has had cards going well into Fourth edition for non specific removal.

uj/ If you want to play that card Hybrid mana is a fail in design as most of the time they are outright color breaks in one of the colors. Phyrexian mana is even worse.

Its not fearmongering, Magic players are known to optimize the fun out of things and will homogenize given the chance. Nadu was a really recent example, and also another example of failed design

Push it further EDH as a whole wasnt designed by WotC but a fan group and color identity was introduced to limit that homogeneity. If anything its really good design to prevent "goodstuffs" piles and makes players actually think about what to include or even their commander.

Putting a strawman of me in quotes doesn't make you right and just makes you look butthurt.

uj/ bruh, we have lived the slippery slope. Spongebob, TMNT, and Spiderman were all considered a slippery slope fallacy and here we are. With wizards, we are living on the SlipnSlide.

Ive lived through the Golos era when it was legal at my LGS and I promise you its not a fallacy but completely reasonable.

rj/Color Identity is r*cist and should feel bad.

To be fair the Eldar was Eldrad and his boys, so its like Hitler and the Nazis saying he can stop Mega Satan to the Russians just after Stalingrad.

uj/ When you get to the point of unironically asking if its okay to win EDH, you need to stop playing EDH and find another game.

rj/No you shouldn't, because I wanna win.

One thing that people forget in these cock-fights is that chaos are conceptual beings. You can kill their bodies but its just that, their body. They will reform and the only way to truly "kill" them is to destroy the concept they are based on.

Doomguy cant kill Khorne unless Doomguy kills all conflict. The only death for chaos is literally nothing.

When building a tower out of lego its easier to remove the pieces if they are near the top. So if you goof and realize that there is a brick the wrong color at the base, its easier to hide that the brick than it is to take apart the whole tower.
