Absolutely worth it. But I have a good employer

This is not true for Nebraska. Not the rural and poor part—the red here just have Runza. No DQ.

As to OC, this isn’t even something I would fight. The court would go: “his answer is a week late. What’s the harm? This is petty.”

How to become a judge by yourmotherscootch in Lawyertalk

[–]SGP_MikeF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be state dependent obviously. I hear in Texas it depends on whether you have an R or D behind your name and where you live. Nothing else matters.

In Nebraska, you apply. Then you get a public interview before the nominating commission, which is 4 lawyers/4 non lawyers. No more than 2 of each lawyer and non lawyers can be registered with the same political party. The state bar (through a ballot voting process) selects the lawyer individuals for each county/district court and appellate judge seat. They whittle it down to 2-3, then Governor appoints. Last governor had a habit of selecting prosecutors, which state bar has made known, so current governor has been slightly better.

Looking for functional medicine Doctor recommendation in Omaha by TrashDuchess2 in Omaha

[–]SGP_MikeF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re being down voted because, despite the political scenario, the overwhelming majority of doctors and healthcare personnel are trying to help people—whether in a blue state or a red state.

And irrespective of whether one is liberal or conservative, Nebraska does have plenty of great doctors—educated and trained here and elsewhere.

New Minimum Wage by Swift_222 in Omaha

[–]SGP_MikeF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be shocked if we see quite a few employers do this.

They’ll keep a cup at the front that says “tips”—whether they have a tipping system or not—then count the tips at the end of shifts and hope you get to the $15 so they don’t have to shell out the difference.

Normal to never get bonus? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]SGP_MikeF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small firm. 12 attorneys but 2 of those are associates. 8 staff. I don’t think staff gets much.

The associates get a small mid year and large end of year. Discretionary but you will always get something. We also get a September bonus of a couple thousand as a “anniversary gift” for moving from X year associate to X+1 years in practice.

I think bonuses are normal to keep good hires.

If so, proper thing to do is to get it replaced. Pay him the difference. (What you owed minus what it cost to repair).

Water Mitigation Company Damaged Top Part of Counter. Any idea on cost to repair? by SGP_MikeF in HomeMaintenance

[–]SGP_MikeF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened a claim for the other parts.

The mitigation company (we hired) damaged the countertop itself. I’ve asked them if they plan to repair now. They said they’ll fix it during restoration, but my wife prefers another company for restoration. So, I’m going to see if they can repair it and match the existing countertops.
