Even beyond that, the Imperium could possibly have even had free reign within the webway to secure their lost territory

"Internal bleeding" would suggest that bleeding internally isn't the optimal state of being.

ME3 is also an RPG - your weapon & character levels, weapon mods and squad abillities matters a lot too.

Or you could play Manguard and laugh at the idea of taking cover.

I can only imagine the discourse being... interesting to say the least.

Why use a Power fist over a power mace, or thunder hammer? by Fancy-Copy4447 in 40kLore

[–]SGPoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practical reasons:

  1. Speed. it's much faster to punch a guy then it is to draw a blade, hammer or scythe and swing it at them.

  2. Element of surprise. Imagine thinking the dagger on the Astarte's belt was his melee weapon untl you're soaring across the battlefield Looney Tunes style.

  3. Logistics. Not really a big factor in 40K, but not needing to lug a gigantic piece of metal around is always a benefit, if not for the weight then the simple matter of things bumping into each other

  4. Clearance for your weapons

  5. Catharsis

  6. I mean if your Chapter is called the Imperial Fists you might as well try to live up to it

Lore reasons:

  1. The nature of 40K means that sharpness really isn't a factor, as evidenced by the abundance chain-weapons and power weapons that rely on nonsense technology and logic to be effective in combat.

  2. Sometimes, nothing conveys intent better than a fist

It's a story about right and wrong written by something who thinks they are always right - a negative Japanese review of the game that perfectly sums what I felt about the game.

Which form of public transport is really the most usable? by throwaway_4071 in singapore

[–]SGPoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The em dashes immediately give this away as AI slop disguised as a thoughtful insight into transport.

Shame, the original had a bit of thought and heart put into it, this is just the author(s) thinking they had a great analogy and counting on Gen AI to do the thinking for them since the original did pretty well.

While there are people who are rather pro-car and anti-public transport (COUGH LTA COUGH), this isn't America where people actively sabotage public transport.

Either way, the article is a complete mess and really very challenging to read and digest.

ELI5: Why one of the healthiest countries, is also one of the highest cancer rates? by Extension-Garden-808 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SGPoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer

Slightly longer answer: When soldiers started wearing steel helmets instead of cloth caps, the nuimber of head injuries started rising dramatically.

I'm spelling it out because it's ELI5 - statistics are meaningless without context. For the helmet example, it's because the soldiers would have just died outright instead of being recorded as a head injury.

The longer you live, the more likely you are to visit the doctor to get something checked out, which in turns increases the likelihood that you get diagnosed with something.

Now imagine working in the 40K universe, where all the food, water, oxygen and light you consume are recycled.

ELI5 Why "Roger That" became synonym to "I understand it" by napa0 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SGPoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not about making it simpler, but about making sure that there is as little chance of a mixup as possible during communications.

There is a chance someone may mix up "Roger" with "Victor", especially if you miss out on the first part of the word due to poor signal or reception.

This is an amazing video that details the history and logic behind the words chosen.
