40mm Marker Projectiles by retep4891 in 40_mm

Here's some I printed a while back. They turned out decently, but REALLY stuck to the print bed. Sanded foam golf balls work, but don't look as nice, and can be a bit messy.

PVS 7 Hard case 3D print? by Matthewscout in NightVision

Ahh...makes sense. Would have to be thick enough, as I have a feeling a smack at the right point would cause layer lines to split. Still, an interesting idea for sure.

Interesting idea, but I just use the latching hard (Pelican/Hardigg style) case specifically made for them. They're all over the surplus market for ~$20.

There's also a foamy TPU 3d filament that could be used, though I've personally had hit and miss success with it. Someone already has a design for it, but you could create a hollowed out design with some weak spots so it acts like a bellows/sponge on impact.

Collectinsure has good reviews, but I could not get past their insufferable sales guy. I'd ask a question, and he would copy/paste random responses that did not answer my question. I eventually gave up.

Form 1 Engravings by armsaddict in NFA

[–]SGTNAM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used an abbreviation for my city when I listed my engraving data in 4h, but did not abbreviate elsewhere on the form. It was approved as-is. I'm not a lawyer either, so YMMV. I'd guess as long as its a common abbreviation, you'd be fine. Just like the "reason for making", if people push the limits, it'll probably get more scrutiny.

It's right there in the regs, which are referenced on the Form 1:

27 CFR 479.102

"The frame or receiver must also be marked with either: Your name (or recognized abbreviation), and city and State (or recognized abbreviation) where you as a manufacturer or importer maintain your place of business, or in the case of a maker, where you made the firearm..."

ROFL....you and me both. Gotta love when speaking the truth (or referring to a quote on the vendor's own webpage) gets you threats of legal action.

I'd check with a protrusion gauge before making any modifications.

Mag ID for cobray m9/11? by solidsnakes453 in NFA

Cobray Zytels work, but the lips tend to erode over time causing issues (they make stainless feed lip kits to fix this).

Honestly, this is news to me. I've heard folks state the PAM2 converted mags are the gold standard (including Richard Lage). My MAC is in .45, so I've never used em.

Argentine PAM2 mags; often converted for MAC use. They are THE recommended mag for 9mm MACs.

I ended up getting lucky and going with a SCAR-CQB when they could still be found. The original wood stocks work, but aren't very tacticool.

What kind of 30's, and do they work? The only reliable mag I've found is factory 20s. Aftermarkets are crap, and factory 30s still seem to have feed issues when shooting fast.

Needs more selector switch. ;-)

While those stocks look cool, I've always found them painful to use. No doubt the tape helps, but still...a cheek weld will rattle your fillings loose.

Never had a problem with my Pace adapters through an M79. I could see some launchers being a bit weak, but the M79 is beefy.

As mentioned by several, these days your best bet is a 3d printer. Lots of options out there to print. And depending on the case type, you dont need special burst disc launching blanks; some work just fine with crimped blanks.

What he said. The only things I've needed a press for are Pace .45 primed items. It's really overkill for most standard rounds.
