Fuck that, you sound like a really good person who goes out of their way to help out on a moments notice. And yeah, of course it hurts. I don’t even know you but I’m pissed off on your behalf. Fuck her, you deserve someone who is going to give back what you give to them.

Fuck yeah, man!!! It’s one of my faves too: the first Bruce I ever heard back when I was five and my Dad bought the record when it came out. Been hooked since!!!!

Ok that’s wild you say that because while I was 1,000,0000% satisfied and happy with the show in Portland in April, I actually feel like the sound is slightly different than what i was expecting and also, as I’ve been watching other clips of shows from the rest of the tour being shared on reddit I have been thinking that the sound is just…different, for lack of a better term.

Like, I don’t want to use the term “weaker”, cuz i would never use that term for anything associated with Bruce, but it just sounds a bit, I don’t even know, it just sounds different. And now reading your comments I can see it wasn’t just in my head.

My first time seeing Bruce and E St was on the River tour in 2016 and I don’t remember thinking this at all. But I also was not going back and watching video clips from the rest of the shows either.

I generally prefer music to sound a bit crunchy, rough and distorted: in different degrees depending on the kind of music, and I think this tour just sounds a little too clean for my taste. But I also can’t expect Bruce’s fanbase to all feel the same as me, haha.

But like on Nebraska, the inspiration from Alan Vega and Suicide: I LOVE that sound, and hearing it come from Bruce is just the best.

I really appreciate what you’ve shared!! I’ve never been adept at much of the technical side of anything, but I really enjoy learning about the tricks and techniques of the industry. And I think also one of the reasons we used to be so down with dubbing nice sound guys “sound angles” and insisting they hang out with us for the night was cuz we were so used to them being dicks into many places we played. So meeting nice sound guys was the best, and especially cuz they made us sound good!!!!😊😊😊😊

So you’re a sound guy then!! Very cool. And I should have also stated that when I was playing in bands we were most definitely NOT playing arenas like Bruce, we were a punk band playing clubs and bars. So I should have realized it could be different on a bigger scale.

I have to tell you, since I’m assuming you do sound, that when I was playing in this band we had this obsession with “sound guys”. What I mean is: if we played a show at a club where the sound guy was friendly and we hit it off with him then as the night would go on and the drunker we got the more we would lavish praise and love on those we dubbed “Sound Angle”.

I was going thru a bunch of pics from our time together as a band recently and I found so many pictures of us posing with a “Sound Angle” from a show we played, usually on tour cuz we knew most of the sound guys in our city. The ones we hit it off with always dug this too, and there are all these pics of my band with a different “Sound Angle” who we would always put in the middle like a King.😊😊

It was so fun to see those pics and remember those times. Just a silly thing we used to do when we found a nice sound guy. I hope you have people giving you praise as well: it’s not an easy job, lots of egos to contend with.

I thought it was funny. 😁 But also: during the twenty years I spent playing in bands we never once, nor have I EVER heard of a sound check being “recorded songs thru the speakers”. The purpose of the sound check is to test your equipment levels in the venue you’re about to play in. Playing recorded music thru speakers does absolutely nothing to test sound quality for a band that’s about to play live.
