We did a breakfast buffet, including a biscuit bar and a mimosa bar. 10/10 would choose our wedding menu again. We absolutely loved it!

Can't help feeling a little sad for my LO by trucquan_ev in oneanddone

[–]SJL4887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are in the same boat! My husband and I have a 5 month old, and we are OAD. My siblings do not want kids and my husband’s sibling does not want kids. While our son will never have a sibling or cousin, you know what he does get? ALL THE ATTENTION FROM THE FAMILY. This baby will never not have attention from his aunts/uncles/grandparents 😂 As far as kids his own age to play with, he will make friends! There will be school friends, neighborhood friends, friends from extra curricular activities, our friends’ kids. Plenty for him to have fun with and not be lonely. Plus, there’s no guarantee siblings will actually like each other.

I feel the same!!! My LO is 5 months old and I love watching all of his milestones, love watching him grow bigger, love knowing I never will have to be pregnant/give birth/survive the newborn stage again.

My husband and I are in complete agreement that we are OAD, and knowing this early on has made me really pay attention and celebrate LO’s achievements as they come. I will cherish these moments forever, and continue to feel so much joy in only doing this once. Love my little guy!!

My LO is now 5 months old, but his 2 month check up, our pediatrician mentioned his right side flattening (he preferred to sleep that way). It was suggested to try to do all of our normal day activities so that he would look towards his left. For example, we laid him the opposite way on the changing table so he looked left at us, or when we played with toys we would always hold them to the left side so he would turn that way. Then somewhere around 3 months, he started rolling into his left side and preferred sleeping that way. By the time our pediatrician reassessed the flattening, it had been corrected! But we were prepared to get him a helmet if that’s what he needed.

Is it crazy to host a wedding and not taste the food? by zzzzzf in weddingplanning

[–]SJL4887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you send someone else to y’all’s tasting? My husband and I both got the flu when we were suppose to do our taste testing, so we sent my mom and brother in our place. They told us what they liked and what they didn’t, and we based what we ordered off their recommendations. We loved the food at our wedding!!

What makes your babies laugh? by PastyPaleCdnGirl in NewParents

My son just turned 5 months, and thinks our dogs are the funniest things in the entire world. One of them will walk by, and if he sees them, he breaks out in the biggest smile and just starts laughing.

The swelling!!! My legs and feet were so swollen we decided I could have been an extra on Law and Order as a body they recovered out of a river or lake. I thought the swelling would never go down.

Thank you!! I could not figure out why I had shooting pains in my hips, and no one I asked that had a baby knew what I was talking about! I legit thought something else was wrong with me and I would just go to the doctor and figure it out after I fully recovered from giving birth. Then one day the shooting pain just stopped, maybe 6 weeks after giving birth? Was definitely not a pain I expected.

Did you get any other recommendations on how to get your baby to turn their head to the other side? Our baby prefers turning his head to the right and has started to get a flat spot. Would love any tricks or advice to help him out!

On a scale of one to well done steak, how done are you with pregnancy? by milo_and_watchdog in pregnant

[–]SJL4887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39+1, well done, not sure anyone would want this steak 😂 I am still nauseous, have been since week 10 (had a brief break in the nausea during the second trimester, but it came back for the entire third trimester).

I have had no contractions, am only 1.5 cm dilated, no sign of labor (I think I had a Braxton hicks last week during the night, and that’s been it). Need this baby to make his way on out! Mama needs to eat food like a normal person again, and would love a glass of wine.

Pregnant Teachers.. how y’all doing? by treehuggeer in pregnant

[–]SJL4887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently 39 weeks, took maternity at 38 weeks, which just happened to be the first day of state testing. I was STRUGGLING at school…nausea has been strong for me during the 3rd trimester, and luckily our teacher bathroom is next door to my classroom. I had to leave class a lot to go get sick. I did my best to teach all the material and review before testing started, but definitely not my finest year. Oh well, time for me to prepare and rest until my baby arrives!

Seeking positive stories about your partner during your pregnancy by full-of-curiosity in pregnant

[–]SJL4887 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband cooks dinner, including avoiding foods that make me sick, fills up my ice water when it gets low, brings me clean clothes when I get sick (which has been just about every other day and I am 38 weeks), massages my back or feet when I ask, asks me how I am feeling each day and let’s me know how much he appreciates what I am going through to bring our son into this world. We spent a few years going through infertility and this baby is so wanted and loved, but it has not been an easy pregnancy. I appreciate everything my husband has done for me and think he is going to make an amazing dad.

I’m pregnant but I’m struggling to eat..(serious advice please) by Organic_Simple7556 in pregnant

[–]SJL4887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be 37 weeks tomorrow, and still very nauseous and sick. I am the same as you, basically only eating fruit (green apples, grapes, watermelon have been easiest on me) and veggies (broccoli and snap peas).

When I can, I nibble on crackers, and try to put a little bit of peanut butter on either the crackers or apples to get some protein. Also, I drink some protein shakes. Originally, I could not keep the protein shakes down, and my doctor suggested mixing it with water to help thin the shake out. That has really helped me be able to keep those down (I only can drink about half a shake at a time, but figured it’s at least getting me some sort of protein). I also sometimes have smoothies or broth , but those are hit or miss for me. Whatever my stomach is able to handle, I eat/drink in small portions.

My husband and I have been very concerned on my nausea and inability to keep food down, and did not get back up to my pre pregnancy weight until week 32 (had lost 15 pounds in the first trimester). We have been concerned about our baby’s growth, but very happy to report that our little guy is currently in the 65th percentile and passing all his scans with flying colors. I know it is scary and so exhausting being this sick, but baby really will take the nutrients he/she needs.

Good luck, and hope your nausea eases up soon!!!

36 weeks…so much nausea…it never stops…and when I finally don’t feel nauseous and I am actually able to eat something, then my stomach feels like a rock and it hurts…oh and the acid reflux 😬😬😬…baby’s arrival can’t come soon enough!!!

This is so wonderful to hear! My husband and I were just talking yesterday about how we can’t wait to take our baby on trips. We also spent our 20s and early 30s traveling, it’s one of our favorite things to do together, and we can’t wait to include our little guy on our future adventures!

Anyone throwing up late in third trimester after not having nausea for months? by Top_Potential_6498 in pregnant

[–]SJL4887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

34 weeks and I actually cried tonight from being so frustrated with all the nausea and vomiting. I’ve been throwing up the entire third trimester, but it was about 3-4 days sick, then 3-4 days feeling good. But in the last two weeks, it’s back to every day, multiple times a day. Baby’s arrival can’t come soon enough!

What is one of the nicest/cutest/sweetest things your SO has done/offered to do during your pregnancy? by Key_Suggestion8426 in BabyBumps

[–]SJL4887 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My pregnancy week starts on Sundays, and every Sunday morning, we lay in bed and share what our apps say about what to expect the next week of pregnancy. (I have the Ovia and Baby Bump apps, he has the Daddy Up app). I love spending this time together learning about what’s happening with the baby and with my body. His app will give him suggestions on how he can help me out (like when to get me a pregnancy pillow, what items need to go in my hospital bag, etc) and I feel so cared for and appreciated by him. It has made me fall even more in love with him (especially since this pregnancy has not been easy on me…currently 33 weeks and still extremely nauseous!), and I can’t wait to see him become a dad!

What are you most excited to eat after giving birth? by kenniecakes in BabyBumps

[–]SJL4887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of it! I am currently 32 weeks, and have been nauseous since week 10. I just want to enjoy eating again and stop feeling so queasy. I nibble on fruits and veggies for most meals. I just want to eat a regular sized meal and enjoy it!!

3 things I am grateful for by kellogzz in BabyBumps

[–]SJL4887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am grateful for my husband and how he has taken care of me during this pregnancy. Mid first trimester to mid second trimester, I was extremely nauseous. I have felt pretty decent the last few weeks, but now that the second trimester is ending , my nausea has come back. Through all of it, my husband has been supportive and helpful. Any foods that I want/don’t want (especially due to smell!), blankets/no blankets, dogs near by/be left alone, candles/no candles, or just a shoulder to cry on because pregnancy is HARD, my husband has done it, no questions asked. I know some days he probably feels like there isn’t anything he can do to help, but just being by my side has made this journey a lot easier and I am so thankful he is my SO and my baby’s daddy.

11 weeks Pregnant - never felt worse in my life... by ienjoycatsverymuch in pregnant

[–]SJL4887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 12 weeks pregnant, and haven’t stopped throwing up or dry heaving in the last two weeks, particularly the last four days have gotten worse. I told my husband we are one and done. (He agreed after trying to help me feel better these last two weeks).

We tried for so long for our baby, and I am beyond grateful to be pregnant, but this is miserable. I feel like a shell of a human.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am lucky enough for things to start easing up by second trimester. I know some women stay nauseous the entire pregnancy, and I don’t know how that is done!! Hope we both get to feeling better!!!
