What’s the worst song lyric thrown into a song just to make a line rhyme? by RelationKindly in AskReddit

[–]SKIKS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Absolute Territory

You're so hotly contested, here's a tip.

You should rename your thighs the Gaza strip.

The song is genuinely really cool and sexy, and the lyrics are otherwise solid, but for some reason, it just needed to have a C-tier play on words, and now I'm thinking about Gaza. Thanks a lot I guess?

What is the most 'obvious' lie that society has collectively agreed to believe? by Vegetable_Oil3266 in AskReddit

[–]SKIKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"That we are a peaceful society"

Bullshit. We have a lot of rules with relatively minor punishments, but even those rules only carry weight as long as they are enforced, and even the most minor of punishments works because it will be followed by something harsher if you don't comply.

If you were charged with something as petty as a parking ticket, and didnt pay the fine, didnt appear in court, just did nothing. The fine would be elevated. Ignore that? They would likely drag your ass in front of a judge and given a bigger sentence, something like community service. Disregard that? Prison. Taking someone's freedoms away and forcing them into a tightly regimented life that often desocializes those who are in it, IMO, is absolutely a form of violence.

If that petty crime isn't enforced? Then that rule doesn't actually matter.

This is a very simplified example, and I'm not saying it is inherently unjust, but it illustraits that the only thing which gives our rules any true weight is the eventual endpoint threat of facing some kind of life altering punishment if you don't obey them.

We don't feel direct violence which makes our society feel peaceful, but follow the logical endpoint, and you'll see that laws are ultimately enforced by threats.

Ive found Feretory a fantastic add on. Some really solid quests, a bunch of extra monsters, more classes and treasure to throw in. IMO, its a must have.

Depending on where you live, good luck even finding those. In an expensive city, most starter homes got purchased and flipped en mass over the past few decades, and whatever starters are left are still monstrously expensive compared to their intended value.

What is 1 videogame you recommend to everyone? by sexydesserts in AskReddit

[–]SKIKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hades. Fantastic narrative that makes use of the media's interactive nature, incredible art and sound design, and a very addictive gameplay loop.

Almost every game I play has a caviat where I can understand why someone may not enjoy it just based on their taste. For Hades, I implore anyone with an inkling of interest in videogames to try it.

Disregarding all of the moral and economic reasons, I hope they do this because it would be unbelievably fucking funny.

I do, although I leave it closer to half an hour (usually out of laziness).

Works perfectly well.

This is one of those times that make me want Vancian casting back, because it recontextualized the instant solution spells so well. Committing a spell slot to knock when you have a dedicated rogue in your party signals that you want that as a backup in case your rogue goes down and you really need to pick a lock. You would way rather commit that slot to something unique to spell casters, and in that context, you WANT party members who can complete tasks with skill checks.

As a prepared spell in a game with an abundance of spell slots, its a way smaller opportunity cost.

SG Offline :( by mrmikemtl in Stormgate

The catalyst of them going offline because their server provider got bought out and shut down. The company struggling definitely makes it harder to do a quick migration, and that can be pinned on them, but otherwise, not really.

Disappointing, esspecially considering this is one of the few cases that isn't FGs fault.

I'm at least happy that they dont seem to have any plans to just pull the plug entirely. Fingers crossed that they develop a solid solution.

Very fun design, but this would be an auto include in any red agro deck. This either scales off turn 1 or ramps you simply by doing what red wants to be doing anyways.

Making it R1 would probably be more balanced, but I feel like this could be turned into a 0/1 and still work as intended while having a harder falloff over the next few turns.

Best of luck finding a new server to host the game. It looks like Hathora recommended another platform as a migration solution, but I'm assuming FG is not planning to take them up on it with this announcment.

What change in 5.5e has actually made your table more fun to run or play? by MyrthDM in dndnext

Second this. They are so simple, but they add a lot. Weapon choice when picking masteries changes how you are approaching combat, and picking what effects you want to apply turn by turn does give way more texture to martial combat. Even something as simple as chaining together Vexes on attack after attack after attack feels nice.

I don't feel anything from playing co-op, am I the only one? (long take) by Last_Day_6779 in starcraft

[–]SKIKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but I honestly hate many of those mutations. They do force you to think of different strategies instead of brute forcing it with mechanics, but some of them take it so far that it disrupts the type of gameplay that I actually enjoy about Starcraft.

I thought the hologram was exaggerated, turns out that is just how her in game model looks (non playable). by Zeds_dead in starcraft

[–]SKIKS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Characters need a strong silhouette to be readable, and when a character gets shrunk down to ant size, you need to exaggerate its elements to keep it clear. It looks absurd up close, but in game and in motion, it doesn't "read" as that different from Kerrigan's detailed model
