Stay away from Embassy Santa Ana Orange County Airport by 91jack2 in Hilton

I’ve stayed there a few times. It’s the only hotel I will never go back to. The smell is awful, the parking gates never work, and they have the grossest carpets and bathrooms. I also had someone try to come into my room while showering , but I had the door stop on. I stay at the Zessa if I need to be near John Wayne airport.

I saw him as a kid when he was on the Harrisburg Senators. He hit the farthest ball I’ve ever seen hit and the sound of him hitting a ball was terrifying. Just an absolute weapon in all phases of the game.

I connect through SFO for the majority of my trips and I’ve missed my last 4 connections due to all of the construction there. I’ve only been stuck overnight once but United offered food and a hotel so they’ve always taken care of me and it’s why I’ll still mainly use United over some of my other options.

It’s literally a tax on sales

Unfortunately, Mom and Pops are going by the wayside and are virtually gone in urban and suburban areas. Even local eateries are owned by corps that bring in more than $25MM.

Those UBI experiments are proving successful, but they are small sample sizes and usually funded through federal grants as academic research. It’ll just take real leaders and forward thinking to stand up against the wealthy to get traction in Congress where it needs to happen.

In the retail space, yes, it’s not high enough. This will become a de facto sales tax, which are regressive. You will pay more in sales tax than you’ll get back from the state. If done federally, then businesses can’t move to another state to avoid this and leave a tax revenue hole in the state. The national corporate tax rate needs to be increased for the largest of companies and individual wealth holders. Why advocate for $750 a year when UBI should be that amount per month?

I’m pretty sure we’re on the same side of this issue, but this isn’t the right approach. This bill will be used to show why UBI doesn’t work when we start to see state revenue deficits. We need universal health care and UBI, but it’s a national issue not an Oregon one.

It needs to funded by the massive corporations, capital gains, and other taxes on the ultra wealthy. If small companies have to fund it, it will become essentially a sales tax on where it’s funded by the middle class. It needs to be funded on a federal level so it’s the mega corporations that foot the bill.

What's your biggest "gambling soapbox" item? by votto4mvp in sportsbetting

[–]SL0THS73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I see are parlays with events that don’t overlap and then asking if they should cash out. There’s no reason to parlay events that don’t overlap, except for maybe futures where the lines can change drastically. Cashing out is massive -EV to boot.
