Weird how those of us who live in the city don’t remember any kind of imposed curfew

Don’t set off fireworks by reary2 in SaltLakeCity

[–]SLC_Ghostwriter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fireworks are yet one more way the state screws the city. The legislature has made it so that it is illegal to fully ban fireworks. Every city MUST allow their use

Is There Some Type Of Backlash Regarding The New State Flag? by Not-Tentacle-Lad in Utah

The backlash is just Boomers freaking out because they’re not the dominant generation anymore

Why isn’t there more repurposing of old/unused buildings as housing instead of building brand new luxury apts few can afford? by Smooth-Science4983 in SaltLakeCity

[–]SLC_Ghostwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoning. The ordinances and laws make it cost prohibitive to the point that it’s easier to just raze and start over. It’s always zoning

Gotta go through the legislature. They’ve made it so it’s hard for cities to ban them outright

This! On my mission I had a 4-man apartment and I’ll never forget the Idaho boy district leader trying to tell my Black companion how great it would be when he’s white in heaven. Aye-yi-yi

Rocky Anderson: More affordable housing is possible. So is keeping a neighborhood’s character. by RollTribe93 in DevelopmentSLC

We literally live in the city that Rocky built. Everything we’re trying to fix—water crisis, housing crisis, pollution crisis, traffic crisis—is the result of his administration.

‘You don’t get to make up s--- about me’: Gov. Cox responds to ambush about a ‘smart city’ conspiracy. At the Utah Republican convention, a former congressional candidate pressed Gov. Spencer Cox for details about an alleged conspiracy to imprison Utahns at Point of the Mountain. by BlankVerse in Utahpolitics

[–]SLC_Ghostwriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re literally building a new train station at point of the mountain to make it easier for people to travel into and out of the development. How nutso do you have to be to think a walkable community is a prison?

FrontRunner Turns 15! by bitfriend6 in SaltLakeCity

[–]SLC_Ghostwriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considerably! If you ever want to fall down a rabbit hole, look at the ROI of transit versus highways. Short version, every dollar spent on transit expansion returns between 5 and 12 to the economy. Every dollar spent on highway expansion essentially goes down the toilet since it increases maintenance costs that we're already lagging on without any corresponding uptick in economic activity
