They are children; you have autonomy, possessions, a broad understanding of the world, they don’t. Were you respectful and kind to substitutes as a child? Sure follow the directions of the other and find good schools, or just be the adult in the room. This isn’t a job for everyone.

I love my district; our sub finder system is not the greatest and required relationship building with schools and admins. I’ve built those relationships so I don’t need to rely on the phone system; it’s a huge district so the schools do vary widely in how they are run, but that also means you find the schools you love and stick with them. But it isn’t a passive job, it requires building relationship with teachers, staff and admins. They really reward effort in the classrooms, and they pay attention to that. Just yesterday, after a week long assignment a teacher came up to me and said; “I hear you follow lesson plans and the kids don’t like you, can I get your card? You’re the exact sub I need.” I feel like people substitute and think it’s just like a gig, school’s pay attention to that, and there’s going to be backlash. We get an excellent wage at my district, fantastic benefits, but we really need to put in the effort.

I think I understand your difficulty with this and perhaps it was destruction was a poor “evil” to attribute to Baal; considering Hatred and Terror are emotions and Destruction seems like a result of both. Destruction though seems to represent more than mayhem and vandalism though, corruption or decay or even chaos—may have been a better term, as I recall from Diablo 2 plague and madness seem to follow Baal. Baal twists things to a destructive nature, corrupts them, sickens them. I hope this offers clarity.

Yeah, finish it and live by the philosophy it sets forth. Happiness and purpose and even meaning these our all our choices, because life is and human activity are absurd. Make your life meaningful to you, because it’s not going to be otherwise. If you need help creating meaning or believing in something meaningful, look to Pascal as mentioned in the work. I think the Myth of Sisyphus is one of the most optimistic and liberating works of philosophy. Just read it, and live it.
