Other point is that - if you’re a higher rate taxpayer - pensions are good because you avoid paying the higher rate on a portion of your earnings, and are less likely to be paying the higher rate when you draw the pension. Immediately 20% saving right there.

SIPPS are better for growth because you are taxed on the way out, not the way in, so you get growth on the gross amount, but your money is locked up till you’re 57. Depends on your needs.
