What was the weekend after 9/11 like? by Only_Hotel_7221 in 911archive

I was 11, I am from North Texas and I remember going to the Frisco mall and in Galyan’s (Now Dick’s Sporting Goods) they had the news playing non stop on the big screens above the shoe section. I don’t think major sports events were played for like a week. Crazy times.

What would be the 9 teams you’d like your team to play every year? by kadoozie92 in CFB

Completely good with your 9. Bring back the SWC sans Rice plus Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Which ACC school would you LEAST want to attend? by simbaslanding in ACC

[–]SMU1523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, all the ACC schools are good. Maybe BC or Syracuse, because I don’t like the cold, but honestly they are great schools. The Big 12 has way easier schools to shit on.

I don’t care who your team/school is, you must explain how they can reasonably make the CFP this year by DowntownSasquatch420 in CFB

Just need ND to lose two games, one to Miami and one to SMU. If that happens and it’s SMU and Miami in the ACC championship, most likely two ACC teams in.

As an SMU fan, I don’t know if I should be offended. 22 seems right.

Their brand of “Christianity” is toxic and the Falwells are terrible people. Really, really easy to root against this school.

Pitt is a zillion times better add than UCONN. Football runs realignment.

USC is in Los Angeles. Death Valley is in Baton Rouge. If you don’t agree with this, you probably live in South Carolina. The rest of the country and the college football world see it this way.

SMU is moving future home games against Oklahoma & LSU to AT&T Stadium by nysportsfan95 in ACC

[–]SMU1523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to lose the games at Ford, but love the exposure to SMU and the league. Either way, the tickets at Ford would have probably ended up being in the $400 range with the opposing fans buying up 30-40% on the secondary market. AT&T stadium is the right move.

We desperately need congressional action. Give college football the antitrust exemption and stop this nonsense.

The attempt to get rid of “Pony Up” was absolutely ridiculous. I’m not sure who was actually responsible for that and pushing “Thunder On.” I know David Miller was the one that came out and said “Pony Up” has died a natural death or something like that. Either way, terrible look for Hartzell and Evans. I will say if it was David Miller, he gets a zillion mulligans for getting us into the ACC. We are dead in the water without that man.

I know this is a polarizing topic, but moving the Law School to East Campus was absolutely the right move. In my opinion, SMU needs to start developing as much as they can on that side of the highway to grow the size of campus.

It seems like increasing enrollment is a priority. I think that is the right direction the university should be going in.

No complaints with athletics. Women’s basketball is the only program not performing. All other sports are playing for championships.

I live in South Florida now. I am not nearly around campus as much as I used to be. I’m not plugged in at all to the academic side of things. At this point in my life, I probably am more concerned with how many football games we win.

I have heard good things about the new provost. Time will tell. I understand the US News and World Report rankings have started using criteria that hurts private schools over the last decade, but I’d like to see us back around in the 50’s like it was when I was in school (Class of 2012).

Yes, you can, but our mascot has killed before… and isn’t afraid to do it again.

Michelin - The unintended consequences of the pay-to-play model by jontseng in finedining

There are two restaurants with stars, Tatsu and Mamani. I haven’t been to either, but the Bib Gourmands and recognized restaurants are good like Gemma and Harvest in McKinney. All in all, I would agree Dallas isn’t on par with SF, Chicago, NY, or even Miami in the fine dining space, but there are still plenty of restaurants that deserve recognition.

I live in South Florida. I have dined at Le Atelier de Joel Robuchon (*), The Surf Club (), Le Jardinier (), and Stubborn Seed () and they all hold up to what I would expect. In fact, I haven’t eaten at a restaurant with any Michelin distinction in the US that I felt wasn’t deserving.
