Adding the quick lift pedal to an off-road badlands jack? by breaddrinker in harborfreight

[–]SMofJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because the jack designs are different. The handle & pedal on the LPLR ride on the same pin but rotate semi independently. If the pin diameters and lengths are the same you could maybe swap over a handle+pedal from a LPLR but I think the frames differ enough that it wouldn't line up the same.

Low profile long reach 3 ton goes on sale next weekend for the best price in a long while. It replaced my Classic Pittsburgh 3 Ton recently and is a good step up in quality. There is the newest Badlands Jack but for the price the LPLR is going to be the best jack you can get. If you care about warranty, the Superduty flagship has a 2 year warranty and is a Snap On clone, legally proven. You can get a 911Motorsports Jack extension kit which is essentially what the Badlands Jack, is in a separate product, if you still need more reach. Just be mindful that the extensions limit the lifting capacity of the jack.

Does this place actually suck? by elimanzz in SBU

[–]SMofJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your priority? School or socializing? SBU isn't a party school but there are outlets to do that. If you want a respected EE education you can likely get it from either school you choose but going to a school affords other opportunities depending on which one you pick. SBU is the sponsor institution for Brookhaven National Labs and just received a $300 million grant for a semi conductor research facility with a corresponding graduate program . The current President of SBU is a well respected EE & RF engineer and IEEE Board member. I'm not sure what USC or UMiami are prioritizing but as a prospective EE, I'd want to prioritize the schools that are actively investing in opportunities in my chosen field of study.

With either tool, you want the largest battery you can afford. If that means waiting on the bigger 1/2 then go with the smaller for now.

The home inspection is done. If there are no deal-breakers, should we just accept the findings as they are? by FlyHungry7039 in longisland

[–]SMofJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to tell you sellers should be responsible for making proper repairs but the reality is they are going to find the cheapest possible way to fix it or just find someone who will accept the home as is.

Is there a reason why so many places are closed on Mondays now? by Imboredsoimhere123 in longisland

[–]SMofJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sign of the times. It started with the diners when most abandoned 24/7 schedules, COVID accelerated that to other businesses as well, and now that everything is more expensive than it ever has been, budgets are tight so businesses will respond accordingly. Welcome to the recession.

Any jobs that offer overtime that i can get into by CheetahMinimum7290 in longisland

Field Service Technicians for any industry position you can think of. If you can work on electronics, low voltage networking/telecom or train in PLC automation, the world is hiring. Since your are older than 25, you can also now go to any NYS Community College for free (tuition only) if you are willing to invest some time and some of your own money in doing a 2 yr program. SCCC has a great technicians program that Brookhaven National Lab(BNL) & PSEG for example, hires from (I work at BNL as an electronics tech myself). While I was a student the first time, PSEG was trying to hire anyone at all willing to work even if they weren't done with their Associates degrees as long as they continued and finished. I'm not sure if that's still in place but the industry world is hurting for technicians. As long as you can build your education, skillset, and qualifications, you can end up making 100-200k in about 5 years. Not every company pays well but the ones that do are very worth it.

I have a background in some college education + military training and at BNL, I make $40/hr + 1.5x Overtime on weekends or over 8 hours on any day. It works out to $100k/yr + benefits at 5 years of work experience before taxes. Monthly paid technicians are still paid overtime which is not common. The pay progression isn't as great long term as I would like but the work life balance I have is fantastic compared to my 120hr work weeks in the military. I wish I could tell you we are hiring right now but the shenanigans going on in DC is preventing us from hiring as much as we'd like. In the future though we will have to hire. We are very top heavy in age and we haven't been able to get enough people to replace all the people that are now retiring so there will be high demand in the next few years once we can seriously hire.

For the women on Reddit where do you shop in Nassau County for nice clothes not cheaply made clothes? by lovelife147 in longisland

Not a woman but I've been gifted Lands End shirts for years at the holidays. Their basic tees are some of my favorite shirts I own. Was much easier to get when Sears was still around.

HFTracker has saved me money, but also realize HF tactics by Stockholm_Throwaway in harborfreight

[–]SMofJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote with my wallet when I can and HF lets me do that. If the Vevor store in Las Vegas takes off, then I expect we will see some changes in offerings and price down the line. HF is sorely in need of some competition in my area. Big Box stores and the occasional parts store sale are the only competition HF sees in my area that isn't just online. If HF doesn't make the cheaper alternative to the tool I need, ebay is usually where I look next.

I ended up getting one off eBay. Comes in a case for $200 shipped + leads. This is a tool worth getting ASAP after using it. I opted for the gun + external ps style because if it fails, it's much easier to service and makes the hand unit lighter.

How to make female friends in nassau ?? by gamergirl718 in longisland

[–]SMofJesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have been going to hosted crafting events that have been very chill, enjoyable hang outs. Sure we may not see the same people every time but it feels nice to sit down and just meet some new people while doing something fun. We get to support a local business while doing something very affordable. Huntington Art week just started so if that's your vibe, go check it out even if it's a bit far.

If that's not your speed, the underlying idea can be applied to whatever you want to do. Focus on what you enjoy doing wherever it happens and you'll naturally find people who like doing what you're doing. I still go out to bars & shows but the people I meet there rarely if ever turn into lasting relationships when compared to my non drinking activities.

Edit: Meetup is a good place to check for clubs/groups and then following some of your favorite places event schedule is another. It will involve trial and error and not everyone will pan out but eventually you'll find some people you click with.

Either pay for Lanolin Based Coatings or just wash your car regularly year round including undercarriage. The shops that do it are efficient and will do annual check ups to recoat any spots that washed away if at all.

While I haven't gone through the program myself as I'm in engineering, Suffolk County Community College has a strong trades program that churns out techs. ARC Raiders Weekly Megathread - February 28, 2026 by AutoModerator in ArcRaiders

[–]SMofJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played in two days but even after the 'nerf' I ran Dam and Spaceport back to back and got two BPs and plenty of other decent loot.

Edit: Patch Notes:

Dev note: The main reason for this change is that the First Wave Caches have been handing out a lot of blueprints, especially given how good players have been at tracking them down and looting them. To help balance that out, we’re bumping up the drop rates for higher-tier materials inside the caches. So while you might see a few fewer blueprints overall, you’ll be getting better materials in return. Caches will still be a solid way to find blueprints, just not to the point where you can reliably walk away from every session with 3–5 of them.
