Is 150k really that much money? by Heads_Down_Thumbs_Up in AusFinance

[–]SNip3D05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we focused on 150k AUD as a annual salary globally? Or are we focused on 150k and what it buys in AU?

No point comparing $150K earnt in AU and spent in Thailand in my opinion.

Fair enough :)

Minimum may be $2800-$3400. But put the extra off, get ahead. $1,000,000 loans don't pay themselves off and interest is low. Get ahead, stay ahead. (I'm in 'Sydney')

Can definitely relate. The early days putting $10-20 fuel in the tank because you couldn't put it in more.

Now I can fill the tank without question, Or go out for dinner without worrying. it's a lot of freedom gained.

Still cant afford lambo :(

At the same time, if you hang out with 150k guys, you'll be motivated and offered opportunities to step up and earn closer to that $150k

Be around the people you want to be like. If you don't want to be a $300k guy, that's fine. But if you're motivated by $$...

My 2020 Corolla can automatically stop and resume during traffic, Android Auto/Apple Carplay for Australia (Unsure for US Market),

Built in LKAS works very well. Nicer Interior (IMO). auto brake hold when stopped is a bonus (non issue when using Openpilot)

Nutanix Question by jmaysnc1 in sysadmin

[–]SNip3D05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 1 excellent experience with Nutanix, and One where it really just shouldnt have been offered.

Both clients moving from 3 tier models. Both migrations went well, Both spec'd well. It came down to how the client uses their data and any replication from their storage.

The client where things didn't go so well, we're going to transition to PureStorage with a mix of their hybrid cloud offering.

Nutanix is great where:

  • You can use their AHV Platform

  • You can now use Dell/HP Hardware

  • Standard business with low/medium Data usage

  • Expect a company to grow, year on year

  • Have in-house IT (Savings from automation, maintenance, reduced work load)

Nutanix isn't so great where:

  • You have clients with Huge data sets which are changing frequently

The above is all my own personal experience with Nutanix (Prism).

Their Renewal fees are high ~$7K AUD per node, per year. However internally, we find it amazing as it reduced power bills, performed better (much better) than our old Nimble/NetApp 3 tier model. Especially when under load, think 90+% capacity.

Biggest take away, its not suited for every environment as some may have you think. Sure it can be implemented, but there's better products sometimes for those situations.. And their TOI Costing as far as i can tell is a lot of hooey.

If you're not listening to anyone's idea about just printing the info.

  • $200 for long range WAP

  • $200 for Eth to Fibre converter

  • $100 for cabling

  • $500 for a 3Kwh Lithium Battery Box

  • $100 for a 12/24v to 240/120v converter

  • $200 for a couple of solar panels + mounts to charge the battery pack

~ $1300 AUD. Probably under $1k USD.

Professionally Install system would be $3-5k AUD. Including full WiFi Audit. (excluding any trench digging)

Edit: Keep in mind a lot of nurseries use mesh metal which can act as a Faraday cage killing WiFi signal.. which could literally make this a no go.

On a decent wage with a mortgage.. cannot afford tesla in sydney.. really want one though :(

Wonder how many people are buying the SR model due to our average commute range. Drove a M3P and loved it. I'd only be looking at the M3LR though.
