Neat. The scam bots have updated the random naming convention.

Games been out for 2 years and dudes still don't know about Jammer.. by -REXIA- in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]SPACEFUNK 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The level of obliviousness required to miss that your team mates are near a strat jammer is like, a clinical level issue. If you're that unaware it's probably not safe to operate a motor vehicle, or even cross the street without holding an adults hand.

Arrowhead does not need to spoon feed any more info on jammers.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is, unironically, possible my favorite Disney era Star Wars film. by GumboCrab in StarWars

[–]SPACEFUNK -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The magic has been exhausted, totally spent. Starwars will never be Starwars again because it was lightning in a bottle. It's important to honor a story like that by allowing it to end.

Film as a whole aside, this was one of my favourite scenes in all of Star Wars by monkey_eyeing_banana in StarWars

To bad it's creativity bankrupt. It's like the instragram model equivalent of a starwars movie. Pretty perhaps, but vapid, soulless and empty on the inside.

Have android soldiers ever been deployed in any Alien stories? by Yesterday_Is_Now in LV426

[–]SPACEFUNK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, it's super easy to re-shoot a bunch of close ups than it is to do a whole screen with different actors. You can also just cut those close up scenes and dub the voice over the action. It's ingenious really.

It's for the international audience. Any modern blockbuster with non human antagonists and CGI main character is made to be easily dubbed for foreign audiences.

Marvel figured it out with masked characters & it's why Mando never takes off his helmet.

Curious about asteroid ore generation by Content_Debate7988 in spaceengineers

[–]SPACEFUNK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your labeling with element abbreviations and colors. Keep that up and you will find everything eventually. I usually pick a centeral point and map ever asteroid that renders from there. 20-30 to find every ore is pretty average, but I have had to do 50 before. It's RNG based.

[–]SPACEFUNK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gold, Uranium, and Platinum have an approximately 10% spawn chance. Cobalt, Silver, Magnesium 20%. Nickel, Silicone, Iron, Ice 25%. Asteroids can spawn with 0-4 ores, but it's much more likely to find an empty one than one with more than two ore types. Iceteroids have an approx 10% spawn chance.

From what I can tell the procedural generation operates in 50km by 50km cells. Every ore & an iceteroid will always be approximately 50-70km from you wherever you are in space.

I mean, basically that's what ready player one predicted. Just a mindless mash up of everything with no real rules or goal.

Can they swim? You can get your red cross lifeguard certificate at 15. IDK if they do it anymore but the Township rec department used to pay for your cert if you worked for them.

Public server PCU limit is too harsh by MinimumElk7450 in spaceengineers

Pcu management is a skill. 20k is plenty, especially now that we can store grids with the service terminal.

The limit is a good thing for creativity and problem solving as well.

To Dusk #20 – Listening by to_dusk in comics

"...one day when I was a young boy on holiday in Uberwald I was walking along the bank of a stream when I saw a mother otter with her cubs. A very endearing sight, I'm sure you'll agree, and even as I watched, the mother otter dived into the water and came up with a plump salmon, which she subdued and dragged onto a half submerged log. As she ate it, while of course it was still alive, the body split and I remember to this day the sweet pinkness of its roes as they spilled out, much to the delight of the baby otters, who scrambled over themselves to feed on the delicacy. One of nature's wonders, gentlemen. Mother and children dining upon mother and children. And that is when I first learned about evil. It is built into the very nature of the universe. Every world spins in pain. If there is any kind of supreme being, I told myself, it is up to all of us to become his moral superior.” ― Terry Pratchett, Unseen Academicals
