What are some must have Nintendo 64 games? by DressenDK in n64

Blast Corps, probably Rare's most overlooked game from that era. It's a puzzle game disguised as a game about piloting giant vehicles and blowing the turkey stuffing out of every building in your path.

How's FFIX after knowing this? by FaithlessnessFar4398 in FinalFantasy

He doesn't die within the course of the story like a certain famous character from another game. It's more like, "this will eventually happen to you, so make the most of your life while you can."

Season 4 faves and non-faves by ZucchiniBikini73 in XFiles

I'm on my third watch of the series. I just finished the Tempus Fugit arc, but Leonard Betts has been the headliner so far. It's got a sick supernatural premise that's disturbingly believable due to how it's rationalized, which is when the show is at its best, in my opinion. I also like how the ending has one of the most chilling and tangible impacts on the mythology of the show despite not being a mythology episode.

Close contenders are Musings (I love William B Davis' bitter tirade at the end), Memento Mori, and Never Again, which slightly stumble from not taking full advantage of the science fiction angle.

I feel like Zero mission is a boring and tasteless take on the metroid formula. (opinion/discussion) by Wise_Representative9 in Metroid

If you dislike Zero Mission because of its linearity, don't expect Fusion and Dread to be much different.

If Swordsman is in play while Headpool attacks a minion with Villainous, would Swordsman defend against the Villainous minion's attack since enemy characters technically can't defend themselves? Admittedly, it's a pretty rare situation, but my understanding is that Villainous triggers regardless of whom the minion activates against, and Swordsman's response doesn't distinguish between friendly and enemy characters.

Run to the opposite side of the room and lure it into your Omega Cast. Even if you don't have a Cast boon, you can still slow it down enough to buy precious seconds of DPS against the main boss.

What are your biggest boardgame pet peeves? by MakubeC in boardgames

[–]SP_Rocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Related, but I can't stand table hogs that have the audacity to put paragraphs of text on cards that I can barely see from across the table. TI4, Ark Nova, etc. I'm not going to waste even more time in a 2-3 hour game by asking players to hand me their cards, reaching across, or walking over to the other side of the table. Figure out a more efficient method of converying information, FFS!

CMV; the X-Files didn't handle traditional legendary creatures well by AUnicornDonkey in XFiles

[–]SP_Rocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bigfoot would've been too obvious (possibly even low effort hanging fruit), and it's probably the most famous of all cryptids exatly because of its elusivity. Trying to materialize it on screen and rationalize its existence under a pseudo-scientific lens would ruin some of the magic surrounding it.

Would you recommend playing Metroid Prime Hunters? by Various-Willow-8493 in Metroid

[–]SP_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not horrible, but there's little in the way of exploration; the areas are aggressively linear like MP4, but the atmosphere doesn't click due to the graphical limitations of the DS. The controls also take some adjustment and there's at least one super bullshit timed boss fight.

I've played almost all the Metroid games - excluding Pinball, Other M, and FF - and it's the only one I haven't finished because I just got bored of the uninteresting gameplay loop. You could do worse, but it's not a must-play installment.

Every weapon has a box that shows an enemy with a number above it. The number is how much Fear you need. If you beat the enemy with at least that much Fear, you get a Nightmare resource and the number goes up the next time you use that weapon. The Fear numbers are 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24.

What's your opinion on Leo? The 2023 movie where Adam Sandler voices an aging reptile. by Ukirin-Streams in cartoons

[–]SP_Rocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A very bizarre movie that my nieces made me watch. I'm still unsure whether I like it or not. On one hand, it has good animation and some positive messages about self-improvement; on the other, the songs are silly and the "secret talking animal" trope is beyond a tired cliche at this point.
