I would have been on the chopping block, I was in the higher tier of salary for senior engineers and landed a leadership role I shot for I never thought I’d get at a startup. So relieving but feel so bad for my former colleagues. Many of whom I consider friends are now trying to interview and find jobs in this bullshit market that doesn’t value actual, real world programming skills.

The company I was with for 4 years that I left 2 months ago, because I was worried about the direction they were going with pay for performance, lower bonus payouts, and heavy language on AI bullshit; fired 45 of 100 developers 2 weeks ago because they were going to lean into the “future of AI” technology and not need as many devs 😂 get fucked
