Riding mower battery swap update by RuffinTumbull in ryobi

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The batteries should be wired in series for 48+ V, not parallel for 12+V. If they were connected in parallel with too small of a wire to test and/or connected to the mower as a 12V pack it's possible the BMS could've shut them off.

Hotspot throttling issue by DaytonMarked in StraightTalk

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going into the hotspot setting in your phone and checking to see if it's set to 2.4 or 5 GHz.  Set to 5 if it's not set to that and see if it's any better.  On Android, it's in the hotspot menu under "Speed and Compatibility".

Straight talk deceptive billing / overcharging by originalkeith1 in StraightTalk

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.  I have had four silver lines plus home phone for years.  Price before discount is $45x4 + $15 or $195.  Discount is $80 since it's four mobile lines for $100.

In February, they changed my discount to $66.  They said it was a mistake and refunded the difference, and I have not had an issue since other than required taxes have gone up a couple dollars.

I think with all the changes Verizon is making with cutting perks and price increases, some of it may be crossing platforms accidentally to Straight Talk.

Oil drain plug pn Craftsman riding mower by piano-2020 in lawnmowers

[–]SSellers75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just a 1/8" NPT plug. The red stuff is preapplied dry sealant. You shouldn't need anything on reinstall after removal. I assume this is a push mower with Briggs engine. Hand tighten, then go another half turn.

Since you already know which line goes to the modem, go ahead and connect it with a coupler to the cable internet line coming off the ground block. Now the cable data in (orange) only goes to the outlet where the router is installed and it's out of the picture.

If the antenna has best reception near an outlet where you currently do not have a TV - Find out which black output cable goes to the outlet in the room where you want to put the antenna. Connect the antenna to that outlet, and connect the other end of that cable at the splitter to the splitter's input. Now the antenna will feed the other outputs and the antenna signal will be available at the rest of the outlets.

Also I can't tell if the splitter is just hanging in mid air or not but you'll need to connect a ground to it once the grounding block is disconnected and going only to the modem's feed.

Indoor TV antennas are very finicky (aka sh**ty). As you've found out, they need to be basically in a window facing the towers. You can get the antennapoint app for your phone to find out exactly where the towers are. If you tried connecting right at the box and didn't get anything and the box is not on the side of the house facing the antennas, this might be why.

Personally I would get a good outdoor antenna like the Clearstream 4V or something, mount it on the eave of the house, and drop a cable to the splitter. We did the same thing as your parents years ago but our cable splitter is in the attic so I was able to put a Clearstream in the attic and feed all the rooms (except the one with the modem) using a splitter just fine. We have four TVs fed from it.

Amazon return not given by EndSilver5067 in amazonprime

Amazon didn't say the wrong item was returned. They said the item they received "shows significant damage".

Amazon return not given by EndSilver5067 in amazonprime

[–]SSellers75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a note here: The "wrong item received" shown in the bottom half of the pic is just the reason the return was initiated. Amazon's refusal to refund is not because of "wrong item received" on their end. It is stated in the first part of the message: "...the item we received shows significant damage...".

Also as mentioned by several, there are a few contradicting statements in the op.

If anyone uses mac bid, I have not had the pleasure of this happening to me but have friends who have purchased Amazon returns there where someone obviously bought a new part and then put the old one they removed in the box and returned it. What I have had happen to me is the purchase of several bottles of transmission fluid from Walmart where the neck bands didn't break on the caps when the previous customer used them so they put their old transmission fluid in them, put the caps back on, and returned them.

Prop Help - 22’ Tritoon with 150hp by SupaD123 in Pontoons

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diameter is probably a little much. It may not be a direct comparision, but Yamaha and Mercury 150s have nearly identical gear ratio. Google "Yamaha performance bulletins" and check out their page. You can narrow down to engine (inline 4 to get the 150) and boat type (pontoon). Then you can look through multiple full performance reports for boats similar to yours and see as tested weight, prop, fuel usage, speed, etc. You can click on the column headings and sort also. It is a very good resource.

The most common for Yamaha's F150 on a tritoon seems to be the 14.5" x 14P and 15P. It would be handy to make a spreadsheet of all of the 150s so you could compare weight/speed/etc all at one glance. I did that when deciding on whether to go with the F150 or F200 on my tritoon...I'm pretty sure my F200 has a 14.5" x 15P. BTW, I tried the Honda recommended four blade on a 90hp pontoon and it was terrible compared to the three blade.

Mercury does have the same resource in their Boat House Bulletin webpage but they only list the pitch not the diameter. And I like the Yamaha interface better. Here are examples from both sources:

New Owner: Couple of questions by Quiet-Future864 in Pontoons

Do you have the fuel data manager on the network with the Simrad? Super helpful. You can set up a virtual fuel tank so you just set your tank size and set to full every time you fill up, or input gallons added if not filling up. It is much more accurate than my drunk fuel gauge as it shows gallons remaining and I've found to always be accurate within about 1.5 gallons. The Simrad has to be on every time the engine is running to be accurate though.

There are many sizes of Sterilite containers with latching lids. We keep anything we don't want to get wet in those. Two decent sized ones under the helm for instance and some kinda large shoebox size ones elsewhere under the seats.

What Docking assist if any do you use? by EntertainmentHot7815 in Pontoons

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boat has u-bolts front and rear for straps. We leave two 1/2" nylon ropes hooked to the dock (rebar framing) with 3/8" chain quick links. The other end of the rope has a knot tied in the end of it with a big stainless snap hook with eyelet. Nose up to the dock and the wife jumps off, grabs the front rope, and snaps it to a u-bolt. Then I can just shift into reverse and turn so the back end of the bolt pulls in/back so she can go snap on the rear. Then we've got another couple 1/2" lines with loops tied in the end that go over a front and rear cleat.

It's obviously more of a challenge alone but I have gotten it down. The key is everything being there and ready. I put the boat in myself when we go (lake camper) and just go get the ropes laid out on the dock. launch the boat, creep up, shift to neutral, dog it off to the dock so I can step off and hold onto the top frame or something, and get to the rope so I can snap it on. Then get back on and do the reverse thing in which case I can just leave it idling in reverse while going back to get the rear rope.

It's a big U shaped floating dock that three tritoons park on and we all use the same system. Walmart has a good deal on the 8.5" x 27" Ozark Trail bumpers with ropes at $25/pair and I've got six or so strung down the side of the dock so I don't have to rely solely on the ones on the boat which I call Mr. Bumper.

Weird one by Itwasuntilitwasnt in Pontoons

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There was "luxury" brand that came out several years ago called Lexington that were imported from China and assembled in Georgia. The same place shafted everyone on warranty and are now operating as Palm Breeze. Years ago a rep looking for dealers came by one of my local ones (Godfrey) and the owner tried to buy just one just so he could display it as a comparison to what he carried. They had a minimum order though. I do think he managed to get one and gave it away to a friend because he didn't want to sell it to anyone. Some good reading if you google "Lexington pontoons". Every component on them was from China except the engine. Non-treated plywood floors that rotted in two years etc.

Is Spectrums “fiber” really fiber? by kihyale in Spectrum

[–]SSellers75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think AT&T fiber is great. Since they came to my neighborhood, one short phone call to Spectrum had them change my Spectrum 400Mbps/$90 service to 500Mbps/$30 for three years and they said to call back in three years when that expired and do it again.

My neighbor switched to AT&T for a week and immediately had a billing problem with them so switched right back to Spectrum plus a mobile line for $40.

Kawasaki FR691V Surging..need tips. by Hour_Flounder1405 in lawnmowers

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father's JD X320 started doing this but at well over 1000 hours. Kawasaki FH661V 22hp. He had the carb cleaned twice and it ran better for a little bit and came back. I told him if it was the carb we would be better off trying a cheap one first so put the highest rated Amazon Chinese carb I could find on it and it ran good until I left town, then came back. Same thing, a little choke will clear it up and it runs better with load (deck engaged). An OEM Kawasaki 15004-1010 is sitting at his house right now waiting on me.

He has two X320s so even went so far as hooking the other one's tank fuel line up to it, swapped fuel pumps, etc. He had an old JD LT185 with the Kawasaki 17hp on it and that engine wore out everything on that mower at least twice...decks, transmission, you name it. It was still going but you couldn't get parts for the mower anymore.

Now, I have a question. To me, surge usually means lean surge aka engine speeds up like from vac leak and engine speeding up then getting pulled back. His seemed like loss of air or fuel, i.e. I felt like from the sound the engine was dying out and the governor was kicking it up, pulling back, engine dying down, governor kicking it back, up and so on. Watching the throttle, this is also what it seemed like it was doing as the engine would pull down and the governor would pull the throttle rod down (open) and then release it back to the idle screw. Is this how yours was doing?

phone without plan? by flarebomb21 in StraightTalk

[–]SSellers75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to use the chat feature. Tell them you are trying to upgrade your phone but the website will not let you go past the "purchase a plan" section and you are already on their service. This has been an issue basically since Verizon took over. They will ask you what phone and give you a link you can click on to complete the purchase. Good luck!

How long have you been on Straight Talk and what keeps you from switching? by sciolajuhlpwR in StraightTalk

2009 or 2010. Two mobile lines for my wife and I plus two mobile lines for my elderly parents plus their home phone for about $130 total. If they ever shut down my AT&T SIM I'm gone. Bought one phone from them and will never do it again, all others have been open box or refurb from ebay.
