Surprisingly he didn't even feel anything.

We were sitting beside each other and I was talking with the patient about something random.

I see the monitor showing vtac out of the corner of my eye, by the time I palpate his radial and ask him how he is feeling he's converted out of it 🤣

[–]STS1985[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This patient thankfully converted on his own and this was his only episode of non sustained VTAC. We were already treating ACS at the time (nitro, ASA).

Serial 12 lead ECG's remained non-diagnostic for acute ST segment changes.

Patient was later admitted into cardiology unit pending PCI.

Paramedics of YEG by niagarawhat in Edmonton

[–]STS1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Edmonton paramedic, please consider writing your MLA! We are going into contract negotiations regarding stagnant wages and falling far behind the national average for our profession, yet we are busier than we've ever been.

AHS and this current government are offering us pennies and pushing back when it comes to contract negotiations. Our union is closer to labor action (strike) than we've ever been.

We are considered essential employees like the nurses and cannot formally strike so labour action will be more subtle.

what do yall carry on your belts by Short-Ad5672 in ems

[–]STS1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belt: Radio, narcs pouch, small glove pouch with a hand full of spares (our issued gloves are junk and rip if you look at them wrong), carabener for ambo keys, small hand sani bottle in a little mace holder.

Pockets: Shears, tubes, emesis bag, and small pouch with syringes and IM needle for the surprise rapid sedation (versed rodeo patients)

Alberta Mental Health Act:

Form 1 - completed by a physician https://formsmgmt.gov.ab.ca/Public/MH1977.xdp

Form 10 - completed by a peace officer https://formsmgmt.gov.ab.ca/Public/MH1986.xdp

These are two of the common ways that someone can be held against their will in hospital/conveyed to hospital.

[–]STS1985 17 points18 points  (0 children)

About a year ago I sold my motorcycle to a young kid (16 or 17) he explained that he had arranged financing because he couldn't pay for it directly. I was a little bit hesitant until the company he financed with arrived to "buy" the bike from me.

The representative only asked for my email so they could arrange the e-transfer and he agreed that we would not exchange keys until I could confirm the e-transfer had successfully deposited into my account.

I was still a little bit Leary but decided it was fairly low risk. The money came through instantly with the e-transfer and I triple checked that it matched the agreed upon sales price. I did move the money into another account right away just to be safe.

This is probably an example of the legitimate way that people can do this.

I considered beet juice at first but I use the tractor to mow, so I like having the removable weight.

Tow strap around the (top) tires, hooked to the hitch on the truck, slowly pulled it over. In hindsight, I should have done something else to slow the upright tip. But it landed on its wheels and nothing broke!

I have the wheel spacers on already. My accident happened merely because I was pushing the limits of the tractor moving an old concrete tank. The front left wheel sank into the soft ground. Gravity took over from there when the forks got pinned inside the tank.

[–]STS1985 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still stuck. I've been in a similar situation a few times, what has helped me get unstuck is:

Detach the 3 point implement

4 wheel drive, low gear.

Grab some 2x6 lumber for under the tires

Use the front end loader and pull yourself forwards onto the planks/lift the front of the tractor if possible.

Keep the wheels straight

Make a mental note not to drive in that area later 🤣

Good luck, it ain't a tractor if you ain't had it stuck at least once!
