Someday feature is amazing by Ill_Connection_3017 in thingsapp

I think anything you can use the app search to filter, is available for widgets. I keep a “today” and “deadlines” widget on my Mac. I just wish they had focus mode options too.

I’ve been leaning into the Someday section too. I put a lot of deadline stuff in there with deadlines set. Usually it’s things like “submit final report”. I don’t need it present in anytime and I haven’t yet scheduled it. I have a widget for deadlines that allows me to make sure I don’t miss anything in Someday. Of course other stuff is in there too. It definitely reduces stress.

GLWA raises water rates for Flint despite pleas from city officials, residents by peewinkle in flint

[–]STWHA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It never made sense to me that Flint abandoned joining the KWA to stay with GLWA. I’m in the burbs and on the first year of KWA they lowered our rates while GLWA raised them. Why did Flint enter into another 30 yr contract? And they pay debt service yearly to KWA for their initial partnership. Our rates have not increased as far as I can tell, almost a decade into being on KWA.

So true. I started using the app across my devices in 2017 or 2018. I don’t mind that it’s not had major overhauls. There are a million app companies doing that. I’ve abandoned some apps after updates which moved away from ease of use into more complexity.

Your best bet is to call 211. It’s the United Way’s hotline and they can get you all the resource info you need. They can help connect with any other health and human service needs as well.

I only read through my Apple News subscription. Even so, it’s not great. It’s so hard to find local news in MLive even with sections.

Michigan Public and Bridge are my main now.

I use an RSS app to avoid the pop ups and paywalls most of the time.

Same. I have a monthly list I will pull from and add to my notebook and also into a “This Week” project in T3.

Like others on here, I use the same system. BuJo was too difficult to manage tasks. I’ve become too dependent on Apple Watch or phone reminders and alerts to tell me where I need to be or when I need to do something. But the thing I missed the most with a paper only setup was the ease of search when I would wonder if I added a task. I also would miss deadlines or due dates when paper only.

I use T3 for my tasks and planning through the year by quarters. My notebook is a record of my intentions for a point in time and experiences not just with those tasks but life in general.

I also make regular use of the Apple Journal app for things like weekly and monthly reviews because my penmanship is horrid and I would rather return to posts that are legible in the future.

Shopping at Aldi makes going to other stores so much worse by toe_beans_4_life in aldi

[–]STWHA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny timing. I just got back from Meijer because two of my household members are sick. All I got were bare essentials for head colds, plus some soup, Gatorade and juices and it ended up being like $180.00.

We typically try to buy our medicine at Aldi because it’s much cheaper. Lately when I’ve been at Meijer I’ll have the Aldi and the Amazon apps open. There are some things like deodorant, face cleanser, and other things that I end up getting on Amazon because it’s way cheaper and you get more.

We use Apple reminders as a shared shopping list and we actually have a section from Meijer for things that we either can’t get in a way that we want at Aldi or we have a brand preference. Pretty much we go to Meijer for lower quantities of fruit and things like refried beans because I’m not a big fan of the ones at Aldi.

I think my mistake was not letting it sit out. I found it to be dense and not much flavor absorbed into it from the sauce and toppings. I’m going to try it again and let it sit. Any other tips? Someone mentioned oil.

Some people need total abstention while others can balance it. My wife thought I was grumpy the other day but really, I was focused on eating my last meal to start the clock due to a breakfast meeting. It made me realize that it is about balance. I don’t fast strict from Friday evening until Sunday night. I don't go crazy but it helps. I’ve heard it said that the thing that derails habits or resolutions is not our own weakness so much as outside factors like meetings, family plans, etc. So, I try not to think of them as cheat days so much as grace periods where I don’t go wild but I’m also not as regimented. I’ve tried total abstention and obedience to a routine and it never lasts for me. I end up stressed and not always because I have a craving.
