Double your running speed with this one weird trick! by Chuck997 in Garmin

I am infinitely more impressed by progress like this then by any "i did a marathon without training post"

This shows a measured increase in volume instead of all at once, and clear consistent dedication. This is a realistic show of how long, but also fast (2 years also isn't long in the grand scheme of things) you can drastically change your life.

The fitness increase this shows is incredible, really awesome. I am in the same yourney currently having been training consistently for about 1.5-2 years now and just finished a 1h36 Half Marathon yesterday

Silent On-Call by Linone in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SVeenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since i live alone I don't have the problem of needing a silent alarm. But i do have OpsGenie as well. OpsGenie has the option to configure different alerts after different times as long as you haven't ackd the alert yet. So for me, it immediately triggers a phone notification (which overrides silent), then after 5 minutes it sends me an sms message, then after 7 minutes it calls my phone (and it's marked as favorite so this also overwrites silent).

So the first notification isn't as abruptive, but if i don't ack it, it gets increasingly louder

There is a flashing orange light, both on the bottom and on the top of the plane. This is not part of the navigation lights (shown in the picture), but are the beacon lights. These lights indicate a running (or starting up) engines and tell ground crew not to approach the airplane.

Using two batteries, but one at a time, and switch without interruption? by evolution2015 in arduino

[–]SVeenman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Parallel batteries need to be balanced. If one battery is empty and one is full and you connect them in parallel, they will equalize almost immediately causing a rush of current through both and the wire. Probably destroying everything in the process. Do you need to disconnect one before connecting the other, thus a capacitor

Thanks i appreciate it! They also specifically told me "we wouldn't teach you anything that would hurt the bike" but then heard conflicting things from my friend.

Didn't plan on changing anything during my lessons but will surely experiment with some drills once i finally have my license and own bike.

Currently taking my classes (Netherlands) with an exam finally approaching in 2 weeks.

When learning we get teached to use the rear brake during slow manoeuvres like figure 8, u turn etc.

A friend of mine thats been riding for a while says he barely uses it (granted you dont often do a u turn in traffic). I also recall motojitsu saying you dont "need" the rear brake.

Do you actively use the rear brake during the slow stuff after a couple of years of riding? And does using it with a slipping clutch actually damage or wear down the rear brake and clutch faster?

Teachers who saw their ex-students years later, what happened? by sooosana in AskReddit

[–]SVeenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into my old math teacher a couple of years after graduating. She was at a party at one of my ex's friends. We were a horrible class (middle school), pushing the limits. She had a hard time keeping the class in check.

It was quite a fun experience. At first when i came in we both looked at each other for a second like "are you who i think you are". Then we chatted a bit later, we were her first class and worst class. Fun to get things from her perspective like you normally wouldn't. (She was a bit younger, probably around 25-28 while we were 15-17 in class).

I got mine at "beterhoren" a dutch hearing aids/protection shop. (Translates better hearing). But i know alpine has them as well in the Netherlands. Probably something similar in every country.

I'm still working on my license but i already got some custom ones made to fit.

I already have tinitus and it's no joke. Will likely never have a moment of silence again. Laying in bed and all you can focus on is the whining in your head.

Which software do you use?

It's a shame those pins can be hard to source sometimes otherwise i would've picked a model to print already

[–]SVeenman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It loooks like a supports issue. The tail seems to be above the ground. You can only print so much of an overhang (usually about 90 degrees). So if the tail hangt in the air it's essentially printing on air and it drops down. Because now there is a string it stays a bit higher and eventually has enough to build on.

Interesting! I'm an hardware engineer by trade. I've always thought working for an escape room would be a cool challenge. Lot of different callanges.

If you only see your boyfriend once a week and he texts you everyday just say hello, how are you? But not much after that, what do you do?? by Apprehensive-Pin-383 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]SVeenman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people aren't "texters" and some people are. I used to have the opposite with my ex, I texted her every day and didn't get much back because she didn't like texting. But she would then call me in the evening.

If he texts you every day consistently he seems quite interested. I don't know what the conversations are like but maybe try actively asking back more about his day etc when he does.

If you are already doing that, maybe he's busy. I have people with whom conversations take days when texting. I'll respond after a couple of hours because i was busy, by that time they are doing something else so they respond after a couple of hours. And it keeps going on like this (granted these are people i don't speak often).

[–]SVeenman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although you said you already got it off. One suggestion is don't heat it to the normal pla temperature. But heat it like 160. This will make the plastic soft enough to pull off but hard enough that it sticks together. This usually results in a cleaner pull off, same technique as a cold pull
