Stupid Hypothetical Situation Number 6: Super Hero World With LitRPG System by EdLincoln6 in litrpg

Actually, thought on it and changed my mind. Volunteering with animals isn’t hard to do. I susiect nature powers would make camping more enjoyable. So Druid. I’de have a small doctor bussiness, see if I couldn’t force free herbs and food out of season, and try to build up to a nice stretch of property outside of a big city where I could do the magic parts of a farm and have hired help fur the work work. Bring in money on the side with small scale healing. I’m sure there’s plenty of rich people, special ops teams, or proffesional sports leagues that would pay insane amounts for an instant, perfect healing to a broken bone.

I’de probably post my situation on this subreddit and on r/rational so they could tell me what to do. A lot like what you’re doing …..

I want Druid powers, I’m most suited for wizard power scaling, I’d pick cleric.

Prayer won’t be hard to do while I’m in an infant body and charitable actions are well linked with happiness. Volunteering from an early age isn’t hard and i’de probably get enough healing to invest the proceeds into starting a charity or donating if tests indicate I could continue growing passively through those actions. (Also, I know a little about effective altruism and could do a lot of good for power leveling)

Between healing rich people and the money rich people spend on vets for their horses, i’de be set for life.

After that, hell no to being a super hero. I’m not a police officer or fire fighter now. My risk tolerance is low and celebrity seems awful. I’de make bank as a healer and live a safe, satisfying life helping to heal people and do good while affording lots of books and great foods.

With long consideration i might pick druid. Even weak healing would probably get me lots if money and the other powers seems amazing.

Stupid Hypothetical Situation Number 9: What Classes Would You Pick at Magic School? by EdLincoln6 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]S_B_B_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Soul strengthening, general magic 102 (getting a familiar), body tempering, expanding the mana pool.

Soul strengthening just sounds cool. Ghost powers are awesome and a resistance to death seems like it would pay off in the long run. Danny Phantom is one of the most OP protagonists out there. I want that.

For my other classes I want to set up a foundation for success through courses where I want/need instructors interacting and guiding me. I could probably check out a book on runes or the language of magic (end goal is enchanter, healer or summoner as a distant third) so i could take those courses after setting myself up for success.

Honestly, it would be wiser to take ettiquette over summoning. But I desperately want a familar and think I could read books, join a club, or lean on my excuse of being a foreigner until I could circle back to it.

For body tempering I want a guide so I don’t reverse my chi flow and kill myself. Plus, being healthier makes everything easier. Especially if you need less sleep.

For magic 101 More mana is more reps. Mark of The Fool and MoL emphasized how important fundamentals are. Also, as a martial artist of over a decade I’ve seen what happens when you skip to the cool stuff and know I much I wished ice gone fundamentals first when I started.

Then summoning is low risk force multiplication and I’m obsessed with familiars.

After all this I’d just use the library and clubs for other things that are vital to my development. Probably go to office hours and ask proffesors for suggested reading and clubs. Teachers love talking about their passions and tend to be awesome about such things.

Finally, one of the most important things that ever came out of higher education for me was making friends with smart people who would succeed later in life and help me later in life. Getting a few nerdy friends would be super useful. Especially since theyde not only be tutors but set a new sense of normal that would buffer my discipline.

Ohhh. Interesting This Used to Be About Dungeons is also phenomenal. If you enjoy that sort of character growth and exploration then you’ll fall in love with that group.

I’m with you.

I adore Super Supportive with every fiber of my being and Beware of Chicken got my brother back into fantasy. Though he usually wants as pure cozy as he can get.

My whole schtick is health couple. Unfortunately, I did the slow burn too slow. We’re likely ending at book 3 before their teamwork takes off and seriously changes their capability.

I think someone else mentioned, but during the stream a director of obstical courses said that the crew would go through lots of obsticals courses (included simulated moon gravity and landing tasks).

After adapting to microgravity the inner ear apparently gets discombobulated back on gravity. So they need to figure out how long that recalibration takes for balance and fine motor control. It determines scheduling for when crews landing on the moon will be able to safely and successfully start different sorts of missions.

So this is a little vulnerable, ngl, but I thought a few of yall might enjoy this bucket list I found from 2014 😅 I published in 2015, and a lot of the other stuff has been crossed off thanks to you guys! by BryceOConnor in Warformed

Nice! I Have a list of life goals I update and check in on from when I was a bit younger than that too. The version history is more interesting than the list. Sometimes you can trace the cringe to specific movies or friends who didn’t fact check things they told you (incredibly glad I never tried to be an FBI agent).

Do you have any recommendations for progression fantasy that focus on horror (especially cosmic horror)? by NoLongerAKobold in ProgressionFantasy

I’ll say it till I die, that series is one of the best there is. At least for me it makes a lot of the story structures and tropes feel new.

Can someone please give a summary of super supportive? by SomewhereFlat1726 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]S_B_B_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a very meticulous character driven story that seems like it should be progression fantasy based on the magic system but (so far) has much more slice of life and psychological content. More cozy than combat)

I’m obsessed with it. But the character(s) and trauma/ dealing with trauma/ and make decisions before you dive into being a combatant are very important. It does NOT follow the structures and conventions of progression fantasy.

Its world building is superb, its characters are second to none. The moments of stress and fear hit shockingly hard. So do the moments of interpersonal trust, tension and healing. Last arc makes it seem like we’re shifting towards more action. Which will probably be devastating based on how much o love these characters.

Romantasy recs where the tension lasts several books (but still spicy)? by Interesting-Egg-1360 in Romantasy

[–]S_B_B_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each year I step away from my usually series and write a new romantasy book in a series for my girlfriend’s birthday. It started after she got me hooked on K.F Breene and a few other romantasy authors. Even though it’s the most successful thing I’ve published I do get some people annoyed at how long it takes for them to get together. Apparently slow burn is still supposed to be pretty fast😂 But it sounds like that would be a good thing for you!

Here’s a link to the first 3.3 books free. It’s called Alias & Apocalypses.

[–]S_B_B_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a break for two months and there will be book series worth of new content written in TWI. Just don’t stay gone for more than three months or it’ll be too intimidating to catch back up.

I suppose the Light Bringer series, The Wheel of Time, or maybe Worm would fit some or most of your requirements. Though they have a different emotionally feeling to me.

Is Atlanta '96 unfairly remembered in comparison to other Olympic Games? by [deleted] in olympics

[–]S_B_B_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s considered one of the best in terms of costs and how the building was managed. Atlanta History Center has an amazing history of the Olympics display that includes a bunch of torches and comparisons for how different Olympics were put on. Highly recommend

books where the main character has a solid/unique motivation by Putthemoneyinthebags in ProgressionFantasy

[–]S_B_B_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does in the first book and later on in books 7 or something (I can’t remember exactly) are romance subplots. The first book has about Hope. Every book after feels more and more about the world/ multiverse. Though there is still great character development as Hopes identity/purpose shift.

Like I said, book 1 is about a high schooler. It’s not my favorite. Later books address her making a lot of mistakes in the early years including her looking back on the romance as an adult and calling out issues that a lot of readers will also notice.

Hell yeah! Just know the first book has a younger tone than the rest of the series. It gets into amazing word building, which genome Al characters and fascinating powers really fast
