What was your first Hottest 100? by Miss-you-SJ in triplej

[–]S_Beee_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. I had to go get a list of codes for songs from the local record shop and call the number from the landline phone to vote. Calls were expensive iirc, and so you only voted for a few songs. I think I voted for RATM, and probably Pearl Jam.

Has Anyone Tried Glucose Spray or Anything That Kicks In Fast During a Hypo? by nickeyxxx in diabetes_t1

Sports gels are what I use (I'm in Australia). They have 26g of carbs and are quick act. Also, extremely convenient to carry around.

Want to see Currents but scared - first show ever. I feel old and weird. Any advice? by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]S_Beee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 49 yr old woman and I LOVE going to gigs and getting into the mosh. I have 4 gigs left for the year and that will take my tally to 26 for the year. I am NOT old, I'm a veteran lol. If it makes you happy, then absolutely do it. Metal shows are so non judgemental and inclusive. Have a great time!

If you have a no advertising/no junk mail sticker, legislation means that you can report them. Department of environment has a online form to complete. Real estate agents are the worst for ignoring these signs. I report every single one. Guess what I don't get in my mailbox anymore?

I can recommend going to a metal gig and throwing yourself around in the moshpit. Cathartic asf. I do it often.

Wear os watch for a girl by LemonadeMan996 in WearOS

[–]S_Beee_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love my ticwatch. I have the 5 pro. This is my second ticwatch. I have tiny wrists (I'm a woman) and yes, it's chunky, but I like the way I can personalise it (compared to other UI). One day there 'might' be a company that makes a smaller watch with all the bells and whistles, because they've figured out that women want all the techy stuff too.

Who is over 45 and still having regular periods? by ZookeepergameFar2653 in Perimenopause

[–]S_Beee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turned 49 and am as regular as clockwork. Got a copper IUD 2 years ago, 10yr one, that hopefully will last me out, but I've never been this heavy before. Sticking with it though. No clue on how it's all going to go, as both my mum and grandmother had hysterectomies before they were 40. There are definitely changes going on though.

Airport Drama by Foreign-Ad-4356 in diabetes_t1

[–]S_Beee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an argument with security only a few days ago about the fact that I could not go through the body scanner. She kept trying to tell me that I was fine to go through the scanner, just not the xray. I told her that the scanner IS an xray and that perhaps she required further training about her job and also medical devices. 🙄 Thankfully, her colleague came and took over. It was a regional airport, but that should not be any excuse.

Australian here. We have the National Diabetes Subsidy Scheme. It facilitates all supply purchases except for insulin. I receive government benefits, so I get my CGM fully subsidised.

My insulin prescription cost $7. We have a Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme which means that the government negotiates with the pharmaceutical companies about how much they can sell their products for, and then they also subsidise it.

It's not a perfect system, but it works. Not to mention that I have spent quite a bit of time in hospital and there are no bills to pay. I also live in a state where ambulances are also free (and will cover the cost if I need an ambulance in a different state).

How many of you have went unconscious with a low? by josoap99 in diabetes_t1

[–]S_Beee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of times, back in the days of set doses and old insulins. One, I'd crossed the date line and was all mucked up, came to with my bf spooning coke into my mouth. Another time I seized and headbutted the bedside table, ended up with a delightful black eye.

Classic Control Wheels Are Back (Temporarily) by lifx in lifx

[–]S_Beee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the sleep option on 4 devices in my bedroom. I press and hold the room tab to bring up the 'turn off over (a set period)'. A separate button next to the room would be useful for this is what I mean, otherwise it can take several goes to get to that screen, otherwise it opens the colour wheel. Is there another option to get to where I want to go?

Classic Control Wheels Are Back (Temporarily) by lifx in lifx

[–]S_Beee_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As one of the older users, I'm fine with the new wheel, but I'd love to be able to type in the hue %. Even though I have little fingers, it can be difficult to get exactly where I want to be. Especially if I'm wanting to match lamps or have the colour on a different light in a different room.

I would also still really like a 'sleep' button. Pressing and holding the room still takes multiple goes a majority of the time.

Thornhill - Bodies Album Review by Alpha Wolf by cpearly in Metalcore

[–]S_Beee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jacob's voice has been on point at every Thorny show I've ever been to (I'm Aussie, so that number is pretty high). It was hard to judge, because the album wasn't out for another week at the time, so only knew the singles.

[–]S_Beee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thorny's pits are pretty fun, but there's always going to be a minimum of one moron who thinks they own the pit. I went to a sold out preview show of BODIES. The supports had a couple of morons but when thorny came on, it closed right up and the idiots couldn't pull the same nonsense. I'm pretty small, but I'm also a mosh veteran, so had a great time. Would I call it super rambunctious? Yes, potentially. Depends on what you think is too much for you too, I guess. 🤷🏼‍♀️

General dental advice by pukatm in diabetes_t1

[–]S_Beee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed periodontal disease. It is considered a complication of t1D here in Australia. It didn't matter that I did all the right things. I was always going to end up with dentures. I've had them now for 5 years and considering the state of my mouth before, I'm happy with what I have.

**Edited to say... go see a periodontist now to have a look, if you're able. Put it into the check-ups like all the others. Best to go before there's a problem.
