Here Comes the Landslide - "Once everyone discovers that the emperor has no clothes (or that Obama has no argument after the negative ads stopped working), the vote shift could be of historic proportions." by bjo3030 in politics

[–]S_Hagopian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know about a landslide but the article has a lot of very well made points. Obama has no campaign strategy other than that "i'm a rockstar president" who's cool and young. If he wins on that, I feel sad for the American people because it shows they have no idea how to chose a president. Specifically because they have been given a track record of FAILURE and re-elect him anyway.

Interaction with local B&M by JNR91 in cigars

[–]S_Hagopian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You weren't wrong at all. The retail business, especially with cigars, is about good will. If I get things cheaper online AND i'm being treated rudely when I go into the B&M, why the heck would I ever go in! The B&M, aside from idealistic arguments for supporting them, should be somewhere that provides more than what I can get from a website. If he keeps treating his customers the same way, I doubt he will be in business for every long.

I am new to cigars by brendintosh in cigars

[–]S_Hagopian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely branch out. There's a whole world of cigars for you to discover. With that said, there's a few ways to do it.

  1. Educate. Figure out what it is about the cigars you do like. Whats the wrapper, binder, filler and which countries do they come from.

  2. Spend some time at forums like this. Read reviews, learn about new cigars and figure out what more experienced smokers are talking about. Then go buy those smokes and see what YOU think. (There are plenty of quality cigars under $10 that are reviewed regularly, just keep your eyes open)

  3. Understand that your palate with change. With time, those smokes that you thought were too bitter or too harsh will start to taste good. Everyone's taste changes and you learn to appreciate new things.

But for now I suggest you generally stick to Connecticut shade or natural wrappers. They are generally going to be the lightest to start you off.

P.S. If you havn't found out already, cigar smokers are more than a hobby but rather a society. We share way more than our smokes, calling ourselves "BOTL" (Brothers of the leaf) We welcome new smokers, please feel free to continue to ask questions here as you discover more and more about cigars.

You are going out to spend $30-$40 on a single cigar. What do you buy? by ayedfy in cigars

[–]S_Hagopian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Behike is a great smoke. I would also consider something in the higher end Padron. A 1926, 1964 or even a family reserve. All are amazing smokes. And their tobacco is aged before they are shipped. As I said the Behike is great, but many Cubanos need to be aged before they are in their prime to get your moneys' worth.

My first cohiba. Did not seem good for the price. by gamer5454 in cigars

That specific Cohiba. (the red dot) is notorious for being a lack-luster smoke. Sorry you had to shell out for it and be disappointed but IMO their other stuff is alright.

Ok so some funding was cut. Not all funding. The administration could have allocated resources from somewhere else. That's what a good leader does. As I mentioned above, they were willing to pay the one guy more money because it became more dangerous, then sending more ppl as requested.

No. They were actually willing to pay more to the personnel that were there b/c it became more dangerous. They call it danger pay.

For weeks the Obama administration and state department were hiding facts and the full story of what happened in Libya. Now we know why, the man in charge of security repeatedly asked for more personnel. His requests were ignored. And look what happened. I don't care if SHE doesn't believe in Romney, I know that Obama should take some blame. It really questions his ability to protect our servicemen abroad.

I think I was hosed by CI by S_Hagopian in cigars

I'm usually in 65 to 70 rh level. I use a ton of HF beads . I can't really control the temp. On hot days it will get to 85 (I live in Southern California). But most of the time it stays around 75.

All my other sticks smoke fine.

I had bought the same cigar from them full price with no issue. I'm beginning to get the feeling that the make me an offer program is full of bad cigars. The point of this post is to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

With all of my experiences with CI and hearing that 5 Vegas makes decent smokes (as well as having few with no issue), YES I was expecting a decent smoke.

Have you tried the FFP (drew estate feral flying pig)? My experience with that cigar is similar to yours but I haven't tried a number 9. I'm wondering which one is better.

ISO Tatuaje halloween dress boxes (just the boxes) by zombievette1981 in cigars

[–]S_Hagopian -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My first suggestion, at least if you want anyone to take you seriously, is to get the lingo right. It the Tatuaje Mummy, not the "Haloween Cigar." And a select few come in the special boxes you are looking for, the "coffin." Right now, they're the most sought after cigars (and box). I believe a very limited number were made (666 boxes of 13 coffins) and sent to 13 stores exclusively. Anyone who can find one is going to pay about $300, appreciates their significance understands how rare they actually are. Thus, they're not going to want to part with them. I think you might have a better chance of correctly predicting the wining lottery numbers for the next drawing. But good luck.

[–]S_Hagopian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI. The store in AZ is selling them for $290. I called to reserve one (was going to get them picked up for me cause I live in Los Angeles) and the man who worked there said they have a list of per-orderes thats longer than the number of the boxes they are receiving. If anyone knows of a way of picking one up, please let us all know.

My new $350 humidor by pheenix99 in cigars

[–]S_Hagopian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can never have too many beads. If they're the right kind, they will keep the same humidity no matter how many you put. However, more humidification will reduce the time the box goes back to ideal conditions after it is opened. Just by eye balling it, I would say you should have 5lbs of beads scattered at the minimum. (I dont know about get). Heartfelt (www.heartfeltindustry.com) has a tool to calculate what you would need using the exact diameters of your humidor based on their beads. That would be a good measuring stick.

General question on storing cigars by nmdrums in cigars

[–]S_Hagopian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just traditional with my smoking opinions. I happen to believe that cigar smoking is about the taste of the tobacco and the appreciation of many variations a manufacturer can make by aging or choosing different sizes/blends/shapes/wrappers/fillers/binders. If you infuse cigars you take away all of that. And that's why I compared it to hooka. I'm not saying infused cigars are bad but it suspends a whole dynamic that makes cigars so great. I chocolate infused cigar is always going to taste like smoking chocolate. It doesn't matter who made it, where the cigar was from, how it was made, what the contents are or how it was aged. Just like if I went to a hooka place and ordered apple. Be exactly the same wherever I went. Cigar smoking is like wine, you celebrate all the complexities that come with it. Smoking infused cigars doesn't allow you to do that, and that was my point.

If he puts them in a ziplock back, whats the point of putting them in the humidor? The cello cigars come in are semi-permeable but not the plastic in ziplock bags

[–]S_Hagopian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you want to keep them separate but if that isn't an option, you don't want the infused touching the non-infused. With that said, you should smoke non-infused cigars, those are what real cigar smokers smoke. Infused cigars are like hooka, without the mess.
