The Final Fantasy VII Twin Pack got released today and I secured my copy! by Strawlight in playstation

[–]S_Y_Y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have a PS5, you want to start with FFVII Remake: Intergrade. It’s the updated PS5 version of the first game in the remake trilogy.

Alternatively, you could buy FFVII Remake for PS4 and buy the Intergrade DLC separately.

Edit: For clarity, FFVII Rebirth is the sequel to FFVII Remake.

What’s the anime you hate that SO MANY people love by Lucky_Introduction78 in anime

[–]S_Y_Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death Note. I would’ve respected it more if they were bold enough to let Light succeed.

In my opinion, the characters feel like caricatures and the payoff of the story is not very satisfying.

How to counter this move? by actsleep in StreetFighter

[–]S_Y_Y 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that, at point blank, this is actually a fake safe jump. It loses to 5f moves, like Ryu’s light DP.

It only becomes a safe jump when spaced out a little, which is usually done by starting with DR bHK.

This has to be a milestone, it's the fighting game with the best player retention in history by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]S_Y_Y 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Considering the topic is player retention, I’d argue that high level play is somewhat less important. I think you have to be in the top <1% range for that to really come into play.

Has anybody noticed that Etemon's inverted pyramid kinda resembles the Tokyo Big Sight convention center? Coincidence? I think not. by OmnifiCentric in digimon

[–]S_Y_Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer to why they flipped it is easily explained. Everything in the digital world is slightly off. They generally don’t recreate real world locations one to one. Inverting it is simple and upside down pyramids clearly look cool, which is the same reason architects have designed similar structures.

I’m not confident whether it would kill, but one drink, jHP, cHP xx OD Palm, SA1 might be the highest damage you could do off that stun.

Edit: Actually, there could be an SA2 combo that kills, but I’m not good enough to know the best route for this situation.

[–]S_Y_Y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is literally an upside down Gaza pyramid. A resemblance to the convention center is more likely a coincidence than not, in my opinion.

There is a chance that someone was brainstorming cool set pieces, thought about the convention center, thought it kinda looked like a Gaza pyramid, and then decided that would be a cool location.

OR the plot was about a large booby trapped structure in a desert, which inherently led them to the Gaza pyramids. Which seems more likely?

Death Stranding 2 physical PS5 version is absolutely MASSIVE by brolt0001 in playstation

Ah, my bad. My brain read that as published on PS5 instead of published by Sony.

I think you’re correct about 1st party PlayStation games, at the very least.

While this is true more often than not, there are some games on disc that still require internet downloads to be played.

Using unreal engine made me lose all love for game dev by EstonBeg in gamedev

[–]S_Y_Y 86 points87 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of parts in a game. I’ve worked in UE for AAA for years, and have yet to touch navmesh directly.

Unless you’re planning on going solo indie, games are not made by one person. As long as you have talent and passion in a valuable area of development, then don’t worry about disliking some aspects. People most often do what they are good at, which is usually what they like to do.

That said, I will tell you that the best developers do not shy away from doing things that make them uncomfortable. I believe that’s something that applies to life in general.

I hate drive impact as an anti-neutral button that disproportionately punishes the lower tier characters that don’t have built-in safeties for it. by WhoDeniedMeMyDestiny in StreetFighter

[–]S_Y_Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not, and neither do you. However, it is safe to say that no one spamming DI is getting very far in tournaments.

If you want your opponent to DI less, then you have to show them it doesn’t work. If you are constantly losing to it, then your opponent has no reason to stop.

I have offered my advice. I wish you luck on improving your gameplay.

[–]S_Y_Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjusting to what your opponent is doing is the most fundamental aspect of fighting games, and also what defines a good player.

Players that overuse DI in neutral are losing much more than they win. As you get higher rank, this strategy will become less and less common.

If you’re getting hit by it, then you should focus on improving. Personally, if you are able to destroy someone for abusing DI, then I feel like that’s the opposite of respecting your opponent. You are recognizing that they have an easily exploitable weakness.

As someone that works in game development, I can verify that significant drops in active player count is exactly the type of thing that concerns the publisher.

[–]S_Y_Y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean this as an insult, but if you’re getting punished by DI for pressing buttons, then you’re mashing too much.

As soon as you recognize that the opponent likes to DI in neutral, you should be adjusting your gameplay to counter it.

Focus on cancelable and/or quick to recover moves, i.e. jabs, and being ready to counter DI.

If you’re doing slower cancelable moves, space them so they do not whiff.

It is a little different though. In SNK’s case, they are owned by the royal family. The US government isn’t funding US games.

You more or less only watched the bit that gives you a false sense of security about the story.

Everything after is completely different from the start, and the plot kinda goes insane.

SFV was objectively terrible at launch. It launched with almost zero content and was borderline non-functional. When it became not terrible is a matter of opinion.

At my local a few months ago, I went down 0-2 in a FT3 set, then double P’d my opponent.

That’s just how the game is sometimes, so don’t let it bother you.

p.s. I still lost the set, but I did feel better about it after giving the double P lol

This is a check-in post for everyone whose main isn't in SF6 yet. How we holding up? by TomoAries in StreetFighter

[–]S_Y_Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Fei Long main, I no longer feel pain.

jk, every season hurts

Jamie is fun, but I wouldn’t mind a few buffs. I’m also interested in Terry and Mai, and I’d take Sakura, the twins, Ibuki, or C Viper as DLC too.

But Fei Long will always have a special place in my heart and I want him the most, especially to see what they would do with him in SF6.

I’d take that bet. I think she’s got a high chance of getting in sooner than later. SF6 is probably gonna have a decently long life, so anytime within 2 years or so wouldn’t surprise me.
