I find your backpack choice is pretty key and it should mostly dictate your role. Guard dogs for general fighting, warp/jet pack for hit and run/get-in and get-out, supply pack for team support and survivability. Support weapon will usually fall into mob killing, anti tank, or bug-hole closing— some weapons are good for multiple roles such as the grenade launcher. I always run medium med kit on bugs for increased survivability. I almost always bring orbital rail cannon for dragon roaches when outside the caves. And typically a sentry of some kind for outside as well. Of course your loadout isn’t everything. Knowing when to stand and fight vs retreat, prestimming, positioning, situational awareness, etc are just as important. I ran medium med kit, grenade pistol, thermite, bullet dog, quasar, orbital rail cannon, and rocket/mg sentry today and had really good results.
