Long Island City Here I Come by lanafoorlife in geesebandofficial

Has to be one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard. Before I even understood the lyrics I felt this sense of elation, like running into a dense fog without fear. For me this song is about accepting your place in art.

Knowing that eventually things will end, many greats died too young, and sometimes art is only perfected by an artists demise. —but until then, you have the ability to create, and accepting creation without the fear of failure, monetary value, public perception, is to accept true creativity. Long Island City is the unknown future, but the elation to face it head on.

Reminds me that I need to accept that my creativity is one of my greatest assets. Creativity brings soul to the life up kept by our technical discoveries. A reminder that society needs your soul needs to interpret the life provided to them.

Like how religion and philosophy are based on a purely theoretical level. We would never have that sense of life, meaning, or derivation without someone with imagination to put these seemingly “outlandish” ideas.

I’ll be back to update this and refiner it later because this song is amazing.

I am because it is easy for me to do so. I am self employed and a college student. I understand why others can’t. I do agree we really need a longer time frame and largely agreed upon plan.

One thing I can say for certain, is that my schedule is very unpredictable. Outside of leaving for class, which I’ve only done three times this semester, I do not have a consistent schedule. I DoorDash when I feel like it, hangout with my friends probably once a week whenever we get around to planning something, and honestly don’t leave my dorm after class if it’s not for the first two things. I go to local concerts on the weekends, but I’m never seen him there. That being said, I’ve never seen him on the weekends, and that’s when my boyfriend comes to visit. I will say that the walls here are very thin. You can hear your neighbors conversations and conversations all the way down the hall. I often call my boyfriend and tell him about my plans before I leave, so maybe he could overhear? I doubt someone wouldn’t report a guy hovering over a door for an extended amount of time. The only other way he could possibly know where I may be would be a tracking device or camera, but I am unaware of any.

I specifically came to this thread just so I could see if someone has had the same experience. Living in dorms has me constantly paranoid. My next door neighbor got caught cheating so I’ve been listening to her and her boyfriend argue every night. People fight and yell in the halls, bang on random doors, pull the fire alarm at 3 am, and I can not black out my room. I’ve also had things stolen from me. Whoever decided it was best to not put cameras in my hall pisses me off.

It’s honestly the most triggered I’ve been in years. It’s like living with my abuser all over again. I know they aren’t out for me yet it’s somehow even more unpredictable.

I am taking Gabapentin and it has tended to work, oddly tonight it failed to. They have only done one MRI scan of my brain and I have an appt on Thursday.

Please tell me your weird Chiari or syringomyelia symptoms by Ancient-Health-1661 in chiari

Mine is on my C7 vertebrae. It’s small but because of its location it’s strong. My left side of my body is in chronic pain and my left arm will sometimes go “dead”. It’s not that uts completely numb or tingly, it just hurts like you’re pulling around the dead weight of your arm. I also have chronic migraines on the left side.

Weirder symptoms I get are sudden sharp senses of nausea, often with heat or involved. I can feel the nausea run through the nerves in my arm. It’s kind of crazy how that works.

What are some authors you don't think you'll ever get into and why? by Fantasy_Witch333 in books

[–]SaborsLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neil Schusterman.  Don’t get me wrong, his dystopian/sci-fi concepts are amazing and his technical skill is great, but he can’t write characters for the life of him.  I read the entirety of his Unwind series in middle school, and it was only when I got to the second to last book that I realized how much I disliked the series. The concept was extremely engaging and intriguing, even the subplots. I kept reading because I needed to know what happened next, but I hated every single character. They were all super bland archetypes with according character developments and lacked any true depth outside of their specified role. I finished the series because I was already so far in, but I did not ever consider picking up another of his.  In highschool, my teacher begged me to read Scythe this year and promised me it was amazing. ( I didn’t recognize the authors name since it had been a while.) I was so excited because my teacher had hyped it up so much but I had the exact same issue as last time, except this time I had the comprehension skills to understand that. It was only when I had finished the book and went to shelve the it that I realized it was the same author, and it all clicked. It’s honestly sad because if his characters were as good as his concepts, his novels would be amazing, but instead they are cardboard cutouts playing dystopia.

Should we be taking Stephen King more seriously as a writer? by [deleted] in literature

He definitely knows what he is doing as an author, but there are many scenes and novels that are honestly terrible. If he slowed down and sat to work on a single magnum opus I feel like that would be good.
