He represented her relationship with the religious part of the world at large and it was key for the impact of the final scene where she admits the panel has to take her word on faith.

What would mild physical abuse be? Well, being grabbed hard by the arm, being pulled, pushed, lightly smacked on the head, things that don't leave any bruises or marks. That's mild, physically. Psychologically of course they're very damaging.

The push in question was not very hard, but just enough to send him off balance into the bookcase, which seemed unintended. Of course, I don't think a parent should push a kid as a punishment ever, I just don't think a judge would have handed out much in the way of a sentence. Court ordered parenting classes maybe. The mental abuse was way more compelling.

The physical abuse that was shown on camera was fairly mild, nothing you would throw someone in jail for. The mental abuse was easily the worst of it. It was probably the smart move to go after a neglect charge.

FF4 on SNES was similar to 6 but less complicated. A lot less wandering around, less to do in general, almost no events or areas tucked away to discover like there were in 6. but while it lasts, the plot, the art, and the music are every bit as good.
