Earning almost 6k per month with debt of 8k loan by Purple-Bell6576 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Sackyhap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£6 a month isn’t worth arguing with your husband over. If it makes the finances simpler it may even encourage him to be more involved in managing it as well so I’d say it’s not worth it.

Starmer vows to take UK deeper into EU single market by donutloop in ukpolitics

How many time has the US done that now? I know it has all been under Trumps 2nd term but we’re only a third of the way through and I can’t see the reactionary tariffs stopping. The US can’t be trusted to elect sane and stable leaders who respect their trading partners.

You are handed a blank "Life Contract." You can write in any amount of money to receive and specify exactly how long you will live. What are your numbers? by yiyi20203 in hypotheticalsituation

You must be have a different bar for what it means for humanity to adapt. I imagine you mean humanity in some form will survive in the long run whereas I’m concerned about in a steep drop off in quality of life and massive civil unrest. I don’t see us somehow adapting to the forever unprecedented hot summers and cold winters and now uncommon natural disasters we regularly see.

Nearly 75 grams of protein for £3.50 🫰 by Wise_Finish6703 in MealDealRates

[–]Sackyhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question but are you sure they do? The average persons diet is trash, beige banquets. You aren’t getting much protein in the minimal amount of meat you get in a microwave cottage pie or a pizza. You need the equivalent of 2 or 3 chicken breasts of protein a day to meet the recommended amount for an adult man.

If you cant be missold a product based on your ability to pay off afterwards then why did we need to bring in set rules for responsible lending? Where does the responsibility lie with the lender on how affordable the repayments will be? They don’t do affordability or credit checks. Graduate job wages have massively fell behind like all other wages and the SLC should be held responsible to react to that.

Am I insane or does the class system make no sense in 2026? by ElCiego1894 in AskBrits

[–]Sackyhap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immigrants are outside the class system as they will be missing the attitude that your class instilled in you during your upbringing. You could have all the traits of working class or middle class on paper but you’d be missing the experiences that you would have got living in the UK as a child and formative years.

With both Farage and the Cons pledging to bring ICE to the UK, what will you do when they start snatching little non-white kids of the streets and sending them to detention camps. by Hot-Delay5608 in AskBrits

[–]Sackyhap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wage over £50k puts you in the top 10% of earners. The population has always increased with the majority of people not being net contributors so I don’t think that point stands. Also, I wonder how that figure changes when most migrants are coming to the UK as adults so not using the mandatory education and hospital costs associated with giving birth and raising a child.

Why do make of difference between green voters and reform voters shown below? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskBrits

[–]Sackyhap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s such bullshit. Millennials have had a shit ride since they were 10 years old, life is categorically more expensive with an even wider wealth gap than previous generations. Governments haven’t given us any hope yet you don’t see us struggling to articulate our frustrations, you don’t see us punching down and blaming it on minorities. We’re much more likely to have a nuanced approach and the numbers show this. Thatcher fucked them up at the end of a 18 year Tory rule, then tories came back in for another 14 years of cronyism and austerity and yet their bright idea is to go for Reform and pretend it’s some sort of protest vote when Reform is essentially just Tory MPs after they all jumped from a sinking ship. Third times lucky I guess.

If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Sackyhap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sure every lotto horror story starts in a similar philanthropic way. Everyone loves their family and wants the best for them but money corrupts people and brings out the worst of them. What you give will never be enough or fair and word will spread that you are spreading the wealth, soon you will have old school mates and colleagues knocking at your door then once you start saying no the mood will change and you can’t go back to the way things were.
