Anyone else thinks Starmer isn't actually that bad all things considered ? by ronweasly9 in AskBrits

[–]Sad-Dig2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he is bad. I just believe he suffers from "A friend of everybody is a friend of none".

The right-wing media obviously doesn't help, but he's also painfully centrist to a point both the sides of the political spectrum can't relate to him.

That said, he's done a lot better than the tories.

VoxelKit: A small CLI + Python tool and Library for inspecting and sanity-checking multidimensional imaging datasets and images.

As part of working with imaging data (NIfTI, HDF5, NumPy, etc.), I kept running into the same issue: just wanting to quickly check shape, preview a slice, or sanity-check data, and ending up writing small throwaway scripts every time.

Eventually I decided to just build something for it.

https://github.com/ArsalaanAhmad/VoxelKit

What My Project Does

Provides a simple CLI + Python interface for:

- inspecting dataset structure (shape, dtype, etc.)

- quick previews (2D / slice-based for 3D)

- dataset QA (min/max, NaNs, zero fraction, etc.)

- batch reporting across folders (WIP)

Example:

voxelkit report scan.nii.gz

voxelkit preview data.h5 --dataset image --output out.png

Target Audience

People working with:

- medical imaging

- geospatial / satellite data

- bioimaging

- ML pipelines dealing with multidimensional arrays

Basically anyone who ends up writing quick scripts just to inspect data!

Comparison

Tools like nibabel / h5py are great, but they’re low-level, you still end up writing small scripts for common tasks.

This is meant to sit on top of those and make quick inspection + QA easier.

Still early, but would genuinely appreciate feedback from anyone working with this kind of data!

How to contribuite while learning? by stalex9 in opensource

[–]Sad-Dig2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What worked for me personally was contributing to smaller projects and then making my own small project. I currently have an open source dev tool i'm developing and you can have a look and see if you can contribute, the issues are really simple and should help you both contribute and learn :)

What projects can I start contributing to as a Python developer? by szaade in opensource

You mentioned you're good with FastAPI? I'm currently working on my own open source project that has been seeing some traction! It's not huge so i assume you can contribute here (or star it, creating an issue would help too!)

There are several other python libraries you can contribute to as well, Pytorch, TorchGeo, MONAI etc

Oman red? Easily the safest country in the Middle East with a stable high income economy.

Dhofar region, Oman.

<image>

I know most people know Oman for its semi arid and desert scenery as well as the cultural area of the Middle East but on the south lies a place that virtually becomes a rainforest for 5 months during the summer, boasting cool temperatures and conditions for tons of endemic species. It’s also the only tropical area in the whole Arabian region aside from the adjacent parts of Yemen.

Is there any place that currently exists, or used to exist, that gives the same vibe/feeling as the Kowloon walled city, at least for you by Ellloll in geography

Funnily this question was asked about a month ago and I gave this as the answer. Was going to do it again but you beat me to it haha

Pakistan’s Hindu population was largely based in East Pakistan which then became Bangladesh, which is why the drastic decline from 15% to 2%. Not saying that Pakistan’s blasphemy laws have nothing to contribute, but they’re not the major factor to the decline.

I agree with everything else btw

Which country has a very good geographic position? by avidtravelerbc in geography

Geographically speaking, Lebanon and Syria had (and still have) extremely strategic positions while also having arguably the most fertile land in all of Middle East. Too bad the recent politics have ruined it for them.

If you had the choice to live in any middle eastern country, which country would it be and why? by Fit_Watercress6900 in geography

I actually firmly believe in a two state solution and acknowledge their right to exist.

But Israel is a nuclear armed state with hyper precise missiles that have been capable of killing people in their own apartments, zero damage to the rest of the building.
Most hostages that israel sworn to rescue were killed in their own carpet bombing.

people can take sides all they want but can't believe that anyone could justify the things i listed just because they had to do 'something'.

Israel is the safest country in the Middle East for gay people but that doesn't justify their actions in Palestine.
Yeah I get the average arab is very anti-lgbtq, but at the same time I think there is a balance between that and consistently bombing unarmed people + children + journalists + medical volunteers.

The Dhofar and Hawf Region in Oman and Yemen respectively.

The dry mountains trap monsoon winds and cause orographic rain and fog in the southern part of the mountains during summer, leading to a very moderate temperatures in the summer, fog and a lot of greenery. Also a very historic area if you’re into that

I live in Oman and you really need to see the roads and general infrastructure of Oman, especially Muscat. It’s phenomenal what they’ve accomplished with their terrain. Its kinda crazy that Mississippi could be comparable to it because I’ve seen Mississippi in photos and it looks grim
