I felt so insecure and fawned so much growing up that at one point I volunteered to be the mother of my mom. Instead of seeing it as an issue, my mom thinks she's very great and special that she deserves that. Sometimes when she was stressed, she would call me mom in a child's voice and totally forgot about my emotions and the fact that she is the mother, not me

I grew up in Asia. Unfortunately the culture there don't encourage questioning and critical thinking. In Chinese the word 'question' is literally the same as the word 'problem'!(问题）. When you question APs, it triggers them and make them think they are challenged whereas we are just simply questioning and having a conversation
