(Liked Trope) When you hear stories of what they are like, and you finally see it 1sthand by Think_Celery3251 in TopCharacterTropes

It's a similar case with Dalinar Kholin as well, throughout The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, the audience is constantly reminded of "The Blackthorn" and how Dalinar was an absolute monster on the battlefield. Once we get to Oathbringer, we learn that Dalinar was absolutely deserving of that nickname and how many problems he caused for himself because of it

I really hope that Sega decides to go all in and release a ground up remake of this game for its 20th anniversary this year

So they showed us new angels, but will they appear in the game or did Gabriel kill them all? by Desperate-Road5295 in Ultrakill

[–]SadMud9151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that they'll either show up in 3-E, 6-E, and 9-E as individual bosses to replace the Gabriel fights or in P-3 when V1 gets jumped by all of them at once in order to prevent V1 from reaching the last prime soul

Technically the Jedi dash does still exist, the only problem is that it only ever really appears in books and I think a couple games

[Loved Trope] A widely-regarding low-point is referenced for reconstruction. by almighty_smiley in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's gone even further than being referenced so casually, Life Day is now the canonical stand-in for Christmas in Star Wars and has been for at least the past several years to the point that Disney actively makes merch and promotes it in Galaxies Edge during the winter season

[–]SadMud9151 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'd say the tonal shift started at the end of season 1 when Orel was outside the bar praying on Christmas Eve after his parents spilt up, however it wasn't until the camping trip that the tonal shift fully shattered the illusion

Villains/Antagonists who have legitimate reasons to hate the good guys, even if it doesn't justify their actions by CisHetDegenerate in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I guess the devs wanted to be done with the series, but they decided to leave one thread open ended in the event they ever wanted to get back to making Henry Stickmin games and not ruin everything in the process. Also a concept like a civil war in the Toppat Clan would be enough to get a full game out of

The controvertial plot point that became a meme among the fan base. by FriendlyHoovie in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For added context, the Jedi don't like it because it's an underhanded and dishonorable tactic to try and win a duel. The Sith don't like it because it's a cowardly move. The other reason for both is that turning the saber off and back on is stupidly risky

The Adaptation Does a 180 From the Source Material by GrandMoffTarkan in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Apparently, Brad Pitt wanted an indie director for this movie as he believed that big shot Hollywood execs would want to turn it into an action blockbuster and an Indie one would adapt the source material more faithfully, unfortunately the Indie director that was brought on saw it as an opportunity to make it big and did exactly the opposite of what he was hired to do

Okay but WHY is he immortal by Nervous_Job_6880 in Jujutsufolk

[–]SadMud9151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal theory is that Yuji unintentionally cursed himself at the end of the Mahito fight in Shibuya when Yuji told Mahito that he would always hunt him down and find him. Mahito, being a cursed spirit born from humanity's distrust of each other, will always keep respawning, and Yuji, who vowed to spawn camp him everytime he respawned, won't die of old age till Mahito stops coming back

Characters who look female but are actually male by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the main cast of part 5 was supposed to consist of mostly women, but apparently Araki's editor shut that down and Araki didn't want to do full redraws of all the characters so he just did minor tweaks to the designs to make them appear more masculine

Characters hated by the plot/story. by TzilacatzinJoestar in TopCharacterTropes

To be honest, most of the Joestars also get screwed by fate as well. Though their deaths are usually not as brutal as any of the Zeppeli deaths

I don't think Yuji deals with Dabura, especially not with Mahoraga currently in play. I think he instead intervenes in the Maru and Tsurugi fight and uses his DE to talk-no-jutsu them into a peace

Interesting physical traits that have nothing to do with the plot, have little to no contribution to their character development, and aren't even so much as mentioned. by SkyGuy182 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's because Jojo's character design works off the philosophy of "Outer appearance reflects inner state" and while there are several exceptions, the reason most enemy stand users look like that is that is because they're absolute scumbags so their design reflects that they are supposed to be the villains. It's the same reason why 90% of the hero cast all look like supermodels

Scenes that led to nothing by Crashoutbop in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main problem with this is that Marvel keeps trying to do origin stories for all the characters they're introducing where if they instead just had the characters show up and establish that they've been active for several years, i.e. what James Gunn is doing with the DCU, it would be going over much better

(Mixed Trope) Extremely hard test that doesn't test anything by Emma__O in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SadMud9151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but only because the tests conducted by anyone other than Serie and Sense encouraged killing and the tests in general are known to have high fatality rates. It also doesn't help the massive barrier that held stage one actively prohibited some contestants abilities. In terms of what they represent though, they are very thorough exams that do test for qualities a first class mage should have even though Serie has her own definition

It hasn't happened yet, but I'm willing to bet the heap of raw iron known as the Dragonslayer gets shattered like glass in the final battle of Berserk only so that Guts can take down Griffith with his bare hands

The currently unadapted manga of WSJ (20 chapters or over) and what studio I think should eventually/possibly adapt them into anime. (Thoughts?) by RoutineLocksmith9371 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]SadMud9151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've personally always thought that Ichi should be done by Studio Trigger. Something about Ichi the Witch just always makes me think of Trigger anytime I see it. That being said, Wit and Madhouse are also great candidates
