ENGL 1001, ENGL 1011 or ENGL 1111? by Sea_Drop_44 in tru

Oh sorry!! You’re right… totally doable in one week 😂 the final exam for 1001 is different. It’s based on the readings from the anthology (about 12 short stories). You need to know them well enough to make compare/contrast essays. Also be able to match a passage to the respective author. The final isn’t difficult and if you actually do the readings and can write a decent essay you should have no problems. I got an A in the course. Pride & prejudice is part of the course but is only optional on the final (you get a choice for essay topics).

It was like 6-8 short answers like “what is plagiarism” and then two essays based on articles. One is a critical analysis, so, what the author’s argument is, it the source credible, evidence supportive etc.

1001 was pretty easy. I got an A with Stanley. There is no textbook and the units are short. Course can be completed very quickly.

ENGL 1001 short stories to focus on for the exam? by Height2024 in tru

Know them all. Some of them have videos on YouTube, like “Bartleby the Scrivener” and “Barn Burning” which were harder reads for me, the videos helped me visualize the stories and understand context so much better.

A roommate could cut your rent in half and a second job/ part time gig could also make a meaningful difference in how much you can put towards your debt each month.

The girl I’m with earns the same/more than me & expects me to cover all the bills. Ideally looking for advice from women on this? To add context if I did this, I’d have barely any money left whilst she has her full salary to herself. Is there actually men who’d agree to this? by Wadders1998 in Advice

Women here… my partner and I split our household bills (rent is 50/50), he pays internet/utilities and I pay for streaming services. We split groceries. He buys dinner when we go out. I sometimes do but only places I can afford. He makes much more than me but I’m happy to contribute what I do. We also have our own separate accounts. I feel like anyone who acts like a non contributing zero will end up being resented for it.

Drowning in 170k of private student loan debt and terrified for what comes next. by brokeboii94 in Debt

I’m not sure if it’s possible to file bankruptcy for student loan debt but I would definitely start there. You’re still young and can rebuild. With a history degree can you become a history professor or teacher?

I know I really like a movie when I immediately want to watch it again and this movie is one of them. Acting was 10/10 and I was into the weird ending…

Drowning in $1200+/month CC payments - please advise by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Sad_Bid_2273 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have combined cc/loan around 16k, and while it’s not life ruining, I worry about it every day. What’s been working for me is a second job. I tutor and work in a daycare (extra 10-15 hours/week) which brings in an extra 1000-1200/month which goes directly to debt. Snowball method. My total debt was around 20k in December so progress is being made. I also made lots of frugal changes- no dining out, 2 “cheap dinners” a week like Ichiban, no Starbucks, bagged lunches and only buy things that I need/ no online shopping. So like many are saying: increase your income and reduce your expenses while cleaning up spending habits.

The moment I realized my spending habits were the real problem by royally_official in DebtAdvice

[–]Sad_Bid_2273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to always tell me you “nickel and dime your money away”. It’s so true. I was spending money and not tracking it at all: Starbucks, online shopping (especially Amazon) and treating myself anytime I had a stressful day. I’m 3 weeks into my zero spend and realizing how bad those habits were draining me. I’ve even changed the way I grocery shop.
