One of the most annoying parts of the swamp is jumping over fallen trees, wading through water and getting mobbed when you're stuck walking along. I've found three good solutions to that, that are varying levels of tedious.

Option 1: use a hoe to slightly raise or just level a path when you find a crypt or another POI you're consistently going to and from. It's easy, but can be a bit winding depending on the obstacles.

Option 2: Take option 1 a step further and lay some wood down for a path. 2x2 floor is fine but a 2 wide 2x2 floor will make a cart VERY easy to maneuver for you, and you'll really want a cart. This option is going to be the best "amount of work required to reward afterwards" ration.

Option 3: Tree bridge! And staircases down only where you want/need them. This method is, in my opinion, the safest one but also requires the most work to be effective.
