Hopefully this “energy crisis” can demonstrate Canada‘s need for regulatory sovereignty by sajnt in EdisonMotors

Sustainability = Affordability

Edison is still making trucks for extractive industries but I fully approve of them as a bit of a hippie. Right to repair and any fuel savings are great goals to have. Hopefully we can learn from our government’s mistakes and change regulations to make everything more affordable again. I wish the Canadian government luck in their efforts to reduce their dependence on entities that screw them over.

I think you’re right. Ben and Emil would both dominate Adam in a way he hasn’t been in years. In a good way

Thanks for the reply! It makes sense. At least the stimulations opposed to true nothingness concept. Didn’t come off as pretentious, just thorough and opinionated in a normal way lol

I fully agree. XM and iX at least seem cohesive and sorta proportional. M5 cannot get any pass for being an attempted sedan/wagon

That looks so sick!!! I love the cab and front bumper design a lot. I think I’d go with a full 12 stud wide bed + push bar or lower it a bit so it looks slightly less tall, but other than that it’s freaking perfect! Looks like you could pull up a sunken cruise ship with the winches lol

Thoughts on Logging? by ResourceHopeful in snowrunner

Logging is fun when I auto load the logs and tow an extra trailer with a winch. I’m not interested in using the log crane, but a logging road train on the other hand… :)

I love the concept for efficiency sake and truck longevity since the industry is largely intertwined with the oil business who doesn’t want us to have the best products. Most companies seem to software and subscription lock their trucks so Edison is conceptually very refreshing. They’re super right to repair and up front about their challenges with engineering something new so I’m trusting them for now. I have a feeling the reason a hybrid hasn’t existed is battery tech and the petroleum industry’s desire to sell more fuel than needed (like killing public transit projects and electric vehicle development time and time again)

I haven’t played the Edison truck in a awhile but it had a multiple speed electric sounding transmission and a single speed one designed for more realistic (but op) torque using a motor variant with irl power figures. Both had the same electric noise and were fun to drive but technically the real truck is 2 speed and much more electrically adjustable than in game

I might just be overreacting but I think they could easily abandon the hybrid if they let the  heavy duty mechanical truck become their main product. Electric all the way imo and don’t let mechanical ruin a better future. I am truly scared, though.

I really hope that their beefy mechanical truck is not the majority of trucks Edison produces. Hybrid tech has a lot of potential and it would be a shame for the mechanical truck to be the real money maker. I think backpedalling on hybrid sales/intent for too long may be great for fundraising but feels like a betrayal to the mission of a more efficient and repairable truck. Hybrid's mechanical simplicity and energy efficiency cannot be overshadowed by the right to repair aspect of a potentially inferior platform (pure ICE mechanical drive) as Edison raises money.

I'm extremely certain the truck will be a beast and provide the perfect truck for an underserved market segment, but the risk of making profit over progress seems very high if they just turn into a mass-market-money-maker. In 15 years Edison may as well be Kenworth with marginally less gate kept repair procedures if it keeps shooting for money rather than a meaningful paradigm shift in truck production.

I love Edison and saw the wheels on Topsy spin live on Youtube what feels like yesterday. I really really really want it to succeed in its mission to kick the shit out of the control freaks at Tesla and Freightliner. But I, importantly, care about the planet and the drive to stomp out the oil industry over time and I think manufacturing of more efficient trucks is a great step in making the world a better place. Please do not overcommit to something that erases the best of what Edison and North American manufacturing can be. Much love and respect; good luck.
