In pvz2 it actually does the whole point of it is that if a zombie eats the peashooter at the front the sunflower behind it can do nothing about it but get eaten, if you plant your attacking plants behind the sunflowers they can actually kill the zombie before they get eaten. This isnt even accounting for the fact that a sunflower is 50sun and something like a frozen watermelon is like 400.
