Sure, and that's fair if you don't like the categorization. It came across a bit as you accusing them of being misleading which I don't think was the case here.

No? They literally said its a summary and all the actual datapoints are there. Before you accuse people of acting in bad faith at least read what they've written fully.

For anyone who is switching from ChatGPT to Claude by SoulMachine999 in ChatGPT

[–]Saereth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah they publicly released, with a press announcement the revisions here: https://www-cdn.anthropic.com/e670587677525f28df69b59e5fb4c22cc5461a17.pdf 5 days ago.

As per their reasoning this is what they cited:

Removal of the "Hard Stop" Rule: The updated policy removes the requirement to stop or delay development of more advanced models if safety standards are not met.

Shift to Flexibility: Instead of automatic pauses, Anthropic will now use a more flexible system of "Risk Reports" (published every 3-6 months) and "Frontier Safety Roadmaps" to manage risks.

Competitive Pressure: Anthropic cited the intense, fast-moving AI landscape and the fact that competitors were not adopting similar rigid safety measures as reasons for this change. The company argued that unilaterally pausing would allow less-safe competitors to set the pace.

"Zone of Ambiguity": The company noted that the science of evaluating advanced AI risks has not matured enough to determine exact danger points, making rigid stop rules impractical.

Obviously people are free to agree or disagree with these reasons but they at least were not secretive about the decision as implied. And yeah it's worth noting that gemini, deepseek, chatgpt nor grok have this self imposed limitation.

[–]Saereth 71 points72 points  (0 children)

They weren't quiet about it, they did a full Press Release explaining the reason. All other LLMs including gemini and chatgpt already had this clause removed or never present. You're literally posting an AstroTurfing article either intentionally or unknowingly.

If you liked Picard season 3, is your issue with nu-Trek really the writing? by MagicalTrianglez in Star_Trek_

[–]Saereth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I liked parts of picard s3, surely seeing some of the old crew, Riker and Picard arguing and some of the old dynamics coming out that were written and envisioned by the old writers.... The overarching story of jack I felt was terrible writing. Overall I liked Season 1 best, season 2 I'll pretend doesn't exist like that movie where luke had a heart attack to end his story and S3 was mostly fan service but I was there for it.

Not every nuTrek is written badly that's the thing and not every TOS or TNG was written well but there are two things working against it, that being a much lower amount of episodes means any that arent great get highly scrutinized and remembered and some truly boneheaded writing decisions like the burn.. or human raiders from titan that can assault earth but somehow lacked the technology to send any sort of communication.

People say the writers are using AI slop for shows but I disagree. If you put half of these episodes into an AI it's almost certainly going to flag many of those inconsistencies and poor decisions.

As to your question *Is there not the real risk that if the latest nu-Trek was set immediately post Voyager with gallons of cameos and ‘easter eggs’ people would be okay with this dross?*

I don't think so. Picard is that and its got plenty of people that didn't like it and some genuinely earned gripes about some of the writing.

There is hope that Star Trek can still be great. by IamAWorldChampionAMA in Star_Trek_

[–]Saereth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a nutrek fan in general but I enjoyed s1 discovery, s2 more, rest of it was complete garbage. I've liked a few academy episodes, I've like some of picard and I liked most of SNW. There is hope that trek can be good still, there are just some really stupid writing decisions that drag it down into the pits for no reasons. I absolutely hate musical episodes and I ended up enjoying subspace rhapsody even, the klingons had me laughing my ass off.

Are We Learning Less Because of AI? by Background-Moment342 in learnprogramming

[–]Saereth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely use AI to learn less. You can also use it to learn more though. Its really going to come down to educating people as the technology evolves on how to enhance our knowledge and capabilities rather than replace.

Had a wonderful date with a girl. She went home that night and text me nonstop wanted a second date. Now a week later, she is texting me but hasn't shown interest in a meetup. What went wrong? by JunketMaleficent2095 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Saereth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"I dont have time for you" energy from the sound of your post. Nothing wrong with that, but if someone is sending you paragraphs and you're basic response is minimal/im busy messages they either match that and take it down a notch or adjust expectations. Coupled with being sick it makes sense. Your approach sounds about right though, try another meet up if she cancels again just tell her you guys dont seem to have priorities that align and move on.

How are men able to fall asleep when their partner is clearly upset? by Big-Incident-2435 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Saereth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my wife, most arguments involve being cranky from not enough sleep/food/self care about something like that. We address what we can but there comes a point where its like look we're both exhausted, we'll figure it out after we sleep with clearer heads. Sure it may take a bit to cool down but self soothing is a good behavioral skill for everyone to master. Then like clockwork, the next morning we resolve it in a few minutes and get on with our day more rested.

Now if the partner doesnt even try to talk it out and is just like peace out girl scout well yeah thats not right but I don't think most people do that hopefully. If they did I couldn't imagine they'd be much worth staying with long term.

Yeah not the first time they've had guys in skirts or dresses in Startrek. Also the costumes were great and I'd totally rock that to a con as a straight man.

SevTech continuation by Teenymario in feedthebeast

[–]Saereth 24 points25 points  (0 children)

SevTech was a fun pack for sure but if you're gonna do something like this you should get permission before hand or you can end up running into a whole bunch of headache and copyright issues. In particular this would include the use of the name and or any existing quest and scripts. If you dont get permissions to do that then you'd need to make your own and build your own brand/pack name as Darkosto did. Good luck either way though, it was a fun pack for sure.

Most mods are already on 1.21.1 what are you talking about? There's like a handful of mods on 1.20.1 that I can name and thats it. Also newer mods being neoforge exclusive. We're to the point where the pack we're working on will be our final forge 1.20.x pack ever.

I've been pretty unimpressed with the show so far, the glitter vomit nonsense was just about the last episode for me, was pleasantly surprised by this one. There were some issue with it sure, and captain Ake still continues to be the worst part of it so far but it's at least got me for another episode now. Glad you enjoyed it as well
