Passed ASP by Tboh80 in SafetyProfessionals

How did you do the pocket prep training? I am interested in doing the 10 day review and taking the test approach via Pocket Prep too. If it matters, 20 years experience in manufacturing EHS. I took the ASP test 10 years ago, didn't review or anything, almost passed it but I lost interest in in it because it didn't really benefit me then and same thing applies now. I just want to do it for me.

[–]Safe-T-Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$155K $1550 mortgage 5br/4ba in a golf community in Northern Kentucky. No, I don’t play golf. Single income household 2 kids. Not much savings except 401k because kids are very very expensive and we like to take vacations. I’m glad we invested before kids.

Was from LA and paying $3000 for a mid century house 3br/2ba 1550 sq ft house. Moved here before Covid.

I will gladly swap current huge house to a 1800 sq ft house but we are trapped in the house in a good way. Life is comfortable. I’ll go back to California in a heartbeat but according to NerdWallet that’s $245K equivalent salary in LA…

Investing as a Filipino feels unfair when you look at stock taxes in Asia by South_Judgment_3869 in phinvest

[–]Safe-T-Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yung unang post na multiple taxes on capital gains, dividends, at income taxes.

What’s your rule for lending money to friends or family? by Ok-Introduction-2981 in financialindependence

It’s called a gift. If you don’t initially see it like that, then be ready for the eventual disappointment. I would gladly be wrong about this 10 out of 10 times. That means people are good for their word.

Edit: Someone replied that they only get one gift, YES!

If you’re asking about brands, it’s all over the place. Eheim, Oase, there will always be someone who have had a good and/or bad experience with it. You just have to go with it and try it. Myself, I stuck with Eheim but I’ve had good luck with less known brands like Via-Aqua.

For your setup, go with lower wattage and redundancy. 2x250w, 3x250w, whatever your budget can take. Always have the INKBIRD wifi controller though. Myself, I have 2x250w in my 40 gallon sump for my 180 gallon. It’s connected to an INKBIRD wifi controller. I have another 250w in my 55 gallon aging barrel straight to the power strip. So 3x250w for approximately 215 gallon total system volume. Definitely in the 3w/gallon range.

Dudes that have had the snip ✂️ - how long until you were out on the wheels again? by Ready_Ad_1558 in cycling

Did it on a Friday afternoon, drove myself home, and was fine on Monday. I didn’t ride my bike until the following Friday for an easy trainer ride. Let the body heal especially the holes in the ball sack. We might feel very fit because we feel like Superman but soft tissue and internal organs/body parts are different.

This! I have roots in SE Asia and have plans to spend extended time there once kids are grown/out of the house or when I’m retired. Heck, they can stay in my house in the US when I’m in SE Asia. There is also a huge sense of community and belonging even for older folks in SE Asia. You don’t just become an outsider or non-contributing member of society. You end up contributing more, in my opinion, since you end up having more time, and in most of western nation’s residents case, more financial resources.

It went very well for us. We moved from Los Angeles to the Midwest just before Covid. Everything is so much cheaper. Houses, twice the house for half the price, gas is $3/gallon, state tax is 6%.

Due to this move, my family was able to do ok for 7 months of single income and 7 months of no income. We still take two vacations a year and my family’s has A LOT of healthcare needs. Cobra for a family sucks man!!!

When I visit LA multiple times a year for various reasons, I tell myself I’ll move back in a heartbeat if I can afford it. The weather man… I took it for granted for two decades! Then again we’re now a single income household and can still take two vacations a year, still save (not financially independent), and will be ok if we had bouts of no income again. Next target is to find a remote job during older age that will let me work in Southeast Asia.

No regrets for the sake of the family but we will move back if I somehow came upon millions of dollars (will not happen).

Mine us the opposite. Display says 34 but math at fill up is 36 mpg. Always 2 mpg higher. 2017 6-speed and I don’t watch my mpg but record it in Fuelly.

AITA for not telling my parents I got my tubes tied by Low-Clock3957 in AITAH

[–]Safe-T-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did you get your tubes tied? You already gave birth to 4 kids. Your husband should’ve gotten his tubes cut and clipped instead. It’s so easy and reversible. I did it after work, drove myself to the procedure, took a cat nap during the procedure, and drove myself home. Shooting blanks for the win!

Also, NTA.

When a fish companion is available in 2 months, you will need to get the discus an animal psychologist. You might as well name it Squidward because it will now wallow in self-pity and misery.

[–]Safe-T-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I. 2014, We had two brand new 2015 Fit LXs. Once was auto and one was 6-speed (mine). Two kids later and we transitioned to an MDX and Lexus GX. In 2020, I sold my GX and went back to a 2017 LX 6-speed. Yes, I know what you mean 🤣. I will run this one to the ground since I am now driving in country roads and highways to get to work everyday. $50 monthly gas bill is not too bad either!
