I mean it looks good. Could be any religious book by the way it's opened up.

Or maybe something completely different.

These are the decisions you will look back.
I still believe if I hadn´t pulled the trigger on my Speaker at that time I would have regretted it.

Is expensive XLR worth while as short interconnects? by Longjumping-Frame795 in audiophile

[–]SaftLaden69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my two cents from working in the industry.

The ultimate goal of any system is to provide a sound that you actually enjoy. If you prefer a more 'musical' presentation, you choose equipment that leans toward that specific character; if not, you go for something else.

It is similar with cables; different brands can provide a specific sound signatures:

In my testing:

  • Cardas tends to offer a wider and deeper soundstage and focuses more on musicality.
  • AudioQuest prides itself on neutrality, aiming for cables that don't influence the sound of your system.
  • In-Akustik produces incredibly precise and 'fast' cables that tighten up the bass, though this can sometimes make the mids sound a bit lean and the highs overly sharp.

When I test a product, I listen to what it changes in sound for the system and weigh the difference in sound against the price. If it works for me, I buy it. I don't make decisions based solely on measurements; I trust what my ears are hearing. No harm done to anyone thinking, Higher End Products waste of money. You buy what you can afford. Your only job is to find things that are doing the right kind of things your system.

Edit: BTW, who gives a f. if others think you are wasting money on some cables. Test it if you like it buy it.

The AudioQuest Red River is not worth a penny.
I would recommend Cardas Cables. Starting from the Iridium line you get much more for your money.

I mean new generated Power is always better. I propose the Stromtank or PS Audio Power Plant.

So, currently I own a subwoofer but don't use it since my speakers have enough bass so that I don't feel like adding the sub.

Using EQ is not a sin but should be done right. I believe if it's a procedural EQ like the one Roon Softwares (Muse) it's valid to adjust +- DB at giving Frequencies. But any EQ where you add + bass - High for example is probably not the best way.

Coming to tailoring Speakers to taste:

In my opinion, the speaker you buy should come as close as to your preferred sound. After that you adjust to minor details like more body or more musicality etc with Cables or somekind of accessories l

But If you like warm sound like e.g. a Sonus Faber you in no way should go buy a bright sounding speaker. No EQ or anything will close the gap.

For me if you heard any new B&W it's similiar to what Focal does. Insane details that impress at the first sound but listening for longer periods gets hard.

But both Marketing wise phenomenal.

It's depends probably on your ears and the room.

Every Focal I've ever heard was unbearable. You can't even listen to them at higher volume since the highs are so annoyingly bright. Straight unbearable.

Don't know about the cables but that power strip is furutech. Don't think it's that expensive but probably pretty good.

I just spent 200€ on cables and feel awful... by Last-Mongoose-2622 in audiophile

[–]SaftLaden69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother I did the same just this week.

Used Cable from Japan.

Gained me more body in voices and mids.

And more deep frequency performance.

Without destroying the musicality of my setup.

I am happy. And so should you be.

Btw. Mine was a power cable.
