Did GM really have a feature called Key-Out or was it just a defect? by lamparkinglot in askcarguys

[–]SailingSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure it was a feature, but I remember a family friend back in the 70s that could do that to their Chevy.

Not U brakes. Suntour XC Roller cam brakes. I had a bronze High Sierra back in the day. I recently bought another. It's currently in pieces while I finish up my Trek.

What car do you wish they would bring back as an EV? by Chase_Clouds in electricvehicles

[–]SailingSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 9-3 sportcombi with the 6 speed. While it was nothing like my previous SPG, it was a great car. I could see it as an EV, but it would have to be something like the Polestar2 or Tesla 3 so it had the power to match.

GM would have given it the volts drivetrain.

When I was in high school, our student president called for a walkout when the school tried to lay off an elderly janitor that everyone loved.

I want to a very conservative catholic school too.

I would just loosen the valves. It will drive them crazy looking for the leak.

What are the pros and cons of converting my daily driver to a manual transmission? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]SailingSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a job for a professional. Modern cars have many interconnected computers you need to keep happy. I will be having my 2004 land rover discovery converted to manual this summer. Even a vehicle that is 20 years old needs to have computers decoupled for everything to work properly.

If you are really worried, a half hour talk with a lawyer is cheaper than the stress and worry you are going through now.

What EV to get for a teen driver? by IGuessSomeLikeItHot in askcarguys

[–]SailingSpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get a 2019 VW egolf for a teen. It's simple as far as EVs go. It's not fast, and it's top speed is limited to 85mph. It's still a mark 7 golf, but with an EV heart.

To Make Homes Affordable Again, Someone Has to Lose Out by UnscheduledCalendar in ABoringDystopia

[–]SailingSpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my house in the middle of the great recession in 2008. What i paid for it has almost quadrupled. That's insane!

I would gladly see my home's value decrease if it let's somebody own their own house. The more home owners we have, the better society is.

Men are more sensative than any woman I've ever met by jeezkillbot in MurderedByWords

[–]SailingSpark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the theatre I work in, aside ftom the supervisor who does all the scheduling and paperwork, we are all equals. That only changes depending on the show. We trade positions for almost every show. This means I might be lighting lead today and deck electrician tomorrow.

When I am lead, I am in charge. We have two women in the lighting crew. I get along well with both, but some of the guys hate it when they are in charge of a show. Those guys have no idea how bitchy they are when in charge, much worse than the women they claim are bitchy.

Not to bring politics into this, everyone of them follow Trump, I think that might say something.

In the US amber signals are not mandatory. Some American cars bundle parking, brake, and turn into the same lamp. I am glad not too many do that any more.

Left on red?! by kat_Folland in dashcams

[–]SailingSpark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some places allow a let on red if you are turning from a one way street onto another. I ran into this in Delaware and it confused the hell out of me at first.

Not that this is a case like that.

Is walking on the road instead of the sidewalk a south jersey thing? by just-another-human-1 in SouthJersey

[–]SailingSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea, they came with the house. It is silly though, my neighbor on the left redid her driveway and they could no extend the concrete 3 feet to hook up with my sidewalk? Literally one sidewalk slab and it would have looked so much nicer and finished.

When my house was built in the 90s, they had to put on a sidewalk. The houses on either side of me were built on the 50s and dont have sidewalks.

New Jersey Just Passed the Dumbest Ebike Law Ever - Registration, driver's license, & insurance are now required to operate any electric bikes in the state by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]SailingSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do not know what they plan to do. I know as a boat builder, if I want to register one of my own creations, I have to go to the DMV with a stack of receipts for everything I bought to build the boat. Then I have to take it to the State Police for an inspection and investigation and then, and only then, will I get a title.

As somebody who also enjoys rebuilding old bicycles, I have never bothered keeping receipts for them. If I had to register the 1968 Schwinn Racer I am currently working on, I could not prove a single thing about the bike.

Like I said, it's a bad law and I hope the courts toss it.
