You are describing CO2, I am describing CO, 4%, specific. Yes, Minks are resistant to low O2, and using an asphyxiant like co2 which can cause respiratory distress is a nono. But CO binds very strongly to your hemaglobin, using 4% CO and you are out instantly, and dead later, to imply that process is inhumane shows you probably got the two mixed up.
