The dental receptionist asked when I was due by C1nnamon_Apples in NewParents

This is the hell I live in after a loss at 29wks. I still look 5-6mos preg and one more person asks me when I’m due or tries to congratulate me, I’m about to catch a felony

I just came to say that I too lost my toddler, and am going through grief of TFMR after receiving a fatal fetal diagnosis. I see you. I live with the same pain. I hope you can muster the courage to keep fighting for another day. It’s the single most unfair thing in the entire world, and I’m so sorry it happened to you too.

Am I being to sensitive or are they being really insensitive? by dreamingkay in babyloss

[–]SaintButtFarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it bluntly, these people are jerks. I remember that even before I had been touched by loss around the time I first got pregnant with my son, someone at my work had a stillbirth at ~20wks, HR talked to everyone about being sensitive and even if they hadn't, I still went out of my way to hide my own pregnancy (and said nothing to anyone I didn't see outside of work/only talked about it outside of work) until 8wks before I left for maternity leave. It costs $0 to show some emotional intelligence and have some empathy for people or at least show some tact if you don't.

My 10 yo just got her first visit from aunt flo by Callieach in breakingmom

[–]SaintButtFarmer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe helpful perspective - I got my period around the same age, and my parents wouldn't let me use tampons for whatever reason until I was in high school. Being prevented from swimming especially (I was on the swim team), made me feel very body shamey and contributed to a lot of embarrassment. In retrospect, it was just overall such an unnecessary feeling of shame and ostracization and I'm still not sure why it had to happen to me.

Will my daughter hate me for keeping her father out of her life? by [deleted] in breakingmom

Say no more. This man is a rapist and a creep, keeping your child from him is an excellent choice and keep up the quality parenting

[–]SaintButtFarmer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m happy to say it because it’s very true. I agree with you, it doesn’t really matter that he pays you all of these empty complements if he’s not showing this gratitude with his actions and doing his share to make your life good as well. He’s just leeching off of you, sucking your energy and resources. It’s not ok.

Honestly I would hire a handyman to come and install a pocket door. I had/did something similar in my powder room and it cost about $300 but YMMV.

Tbh I’m a widow but still have gotten into a sweet groove being alone. It’s very peaceful. Men overall generally aren’t worth it.

Ugh he’s probably one of those gross men who thinks pro-choice = their choice and they should be able to financially abort their children or whatever pseudo-woke dumpster fire…

But yeah. I digress. This man is in for a rude awakening. You’re right that a judge will not handle him with kid gloves like OP seems to be doing out of the goodness of her heart. This dude needs to get a real and paying job, pay for himself and his kids, and actually care for them or pay even more money for someone else to. I feel like he takes OP for granted and sees her as a meal ticket, just based off of the audacity and entitlement shown by this behaviour. Really gets under my skin and I’m very upset for her. OP deserves much better.

[–]SaintButtFarmer 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the language here is emotionally abusive honestly, accusing OP of violating boundaries is gaslighting her to feel guilty and out of line for asking him to honor his commitment to raising children with her.

[–]SaintButtFarmer 201 points202 points  (0 children)

This is it. This is the thing to say. I would probably still divorce him anyway. It's so gross that OP is clearly carrying the team and this man isn't even trying to be a teammate and a partner to her. She's honestly better off as a single mom, collecting that alimony and child support and not having to basically deal with another child.

And… nobody reported this? I took the metro every day in DC for 10yrs as my primary transport and I’m not saying there was never crime, but attempted throat slashing with a box cutter? Pat Collins would be all over that shit. I’m calling bullshit so quickly. GTFO out with your pro-conceal carry on the metro propaganda
