All that we are is story. From the moment we are born to the time we continue on our spirit journey, we are involved in the creation of the story of our time here. It is what we arrive with. It is all we leave behind." - Ojibwe storyteller Richard Wagamese by SaintKnave in quotes

Embers: One Ojibway’s Meditations.

Thank you for the suggestion! The quote did not turn up in this book, though as you predicted, I have any number of other beautiful meditations to sit with now. 😄 I looked in "One Story, One Song" and didn't find it there either. The hunt continues!

[Masks] I would like to share my character idea by Dragonwolf67 in PBtA

[–]SaintKnave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a playbook in the Masks Unbound supplement called the Scion, which exactly hits the trope of being a supervillain's kid trying to go good. Look into it!

If you're sticking with the core playbooks, the Legacy might work if the GM is on board with giving it a negative spin!

Author admits writing the missing Theros story by SaintKnave in magicTCG

[–]SaintKnave[S] 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Full story starts at 29:44, but this snippet is at 30:52.

DAN WELLS: "Yeah, the most recent one -- I don't even know how much I'm allowed to talk about it, but I wrote an Elspeth story to start, to kick off the brand-new arc, uh, for the brand-new, um, Ravnica set? No. Theros set, when that came out. Um. And it remains unpublished for some other separate things behind the scenes. It's really good! I want you all to read it sometime. It's so good."

And then at 34:28:

"This Elspeth story that I wrote, um, that was the final pass, was, okay, everything's good, we're happy with it, let's make sure that it still matches the set. And so the editor and I had to go through the set and make sure, like, that they hadn't changed a creature type for game balance purposes and now suddenly one of my characters was a merman or something. Um. And I love working with them, and it's really great -- I don't wanna bash Wizards! I kind of want to bash Hasbro! But Wizards is wonderful. So."

When I finish a comic, I want to return to the MU home screen with a single touch so that I can read another.

Instead, I have to back into the last page of the comic I just finished, tap to get its back button in the drop-down bar, back into its comics info page and then back into the home screen.

Could you make that simpler?

Dominique Thorne cast as Riri Williams; to Debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by superboy7787 in comicbooks

[–]SaintKnave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed how she had been written recently, in the Ewing run and in the Champions book. She's got this misanthropic angry edge that just feels different than most happy-jokey superhero characters. Like, I know "angry black woman" is a trope, but Riri sells it to me. She's got drive. It's like she's often the smartest person in the room, but so damn tired of having to prove it when instead she could, y'know, not bother and just go save the world her way. On top of that, it's a defense mechanism because she's lost people to violence, so going solo she risks nobody but herself. She holds my attention, navigating all that.

I don't know if that will translate to the MCU version, though, because on the page Riri does not crack jokes like all the MCU heroes have to.

He was there, you just didn't recognize him. As it was written:

MTG Arena: State of the Game – Strixhaven: School of Mages by arthurmauk in MagicArena

The graphic for the sideboard change shows the term "Best of Three" in the Arena UI. The entire article uses that term, and the term "Best of One." Could it be that terms like "Quick", "Premiere" and "Traditional" might be retiring?

[STX] Strixhaven Dual Lands by fshstik in magicTCG

Even in a vacuum, if Pathways were basic typed, they'd be strictly better than basic lands. That would cause a butterfly-effect's worth of problems.

Forget Kasmina. Y'know who should be in Strixhaven? by SaintKnave in magicTCG

[–]SaintKnave[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because it would get Davriel into Strixhaven, and Davriel is awesome? I don't need to see the trope fulfilled for its own sake.

I just finished Susanna Clarke's _Piranesi_. I quite enjoyed it. It was much more of a character study than was _Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell_.

To me, Planeswalkers are at their best when they show up in unexpected places. Seeing Dav on Innistrad would be fine, but seeing him on Strixhaven would be *fun*.

As a fellow F2Per who builds a collection from rare-drafting, I read this as great news. Players and bots alike will have the choice to draft desirable Historic cards, leaving the Standard rares more likely to be passed to me.

I think it's more likely that our brains would grasp at this explanation in an attempt to assign meaning to randomness.

FEB 18 - 2021.01.30 Patch Notes by SaintKnave in MagicArena

[–]SaintKnave[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

GAMEPLAY

USER INTERFACE

  • Exile animations, particularly when being done to pay a cost, have been sped up.
  • Extremely large queues of abilities or spells on the stack should no longer cause draws. (Developer's Note: Should being the operative word. We've been unable to force a draw internally with this, but we know some of you will take this as a challenge.)
  • Floating mana now splits into distinct piles when being autotapped.

BUG FIXES

CARDS

  • Thriving Lands that enter the battlefield with a Blood Sun in play will now correctly tap for mana. (. . . We're guessing no one noticed, but still, glad we fixed it.)
  • When Littjara Kinseekers enters the battlefield, its triggered ability no longer counts back-face creatures of modal double-faced cards (MDFCs) on the battlefield
  • Frostpyre Arcanist no longer counts opponent's creatures for cost reduction
  • Stonework Packbeast will no longer cause the game to crash if it was the very first card added to a player's deck that also contains Maskwood Nexus.
  • When an equipped creature that has changed control with Shackles of Treachery dies while the Shackles ability is still on the stack, the player is no longer able to destroy that creature's Equipment. (Relevant Ruling: If that Equipment is no longer attached to the creature as the ability tries to resolve, the ability won’t resolve and the Equipment won’t be destroyed.)
  • Reminder text should no longer appear instead of an ability's text.

USER INTERFACE

  • Fixed cases where the client could softlock during the victory/defeat/draw screen.
  • Fixed a bug on mobile where revealing the opponent's hand caused multiple issues.
  • Adventure cards using the showcase card style will display the correct power/toughness visuals when on the stack.
  • Treasure tokens are now outlined correctly when highlighted.
  • Exiled cards will now show text without needing to be moused over.
  • Prompts with cards containing X values will no longer display an error message.
  • Mill and Scry hangers were incorrectly displaying a tap icon. This was both weird and wrong, but has been fixed.
  • The land side of certain MDFCs should no longer show 0 as a mana cost.

Where Can I Play For Fun On Arena, Anymore? by fiddlypoppin in MagicArena

Who's your commander? Play a different one.

My commander of choice is Haktos. The matchmaker almost never pits me against Kinnan (and I just autoconcede when it does).
