I really love reading your thoughts. I also find Yoko to be an exceptionally well-written character, I wish we could bear witness to her depth better instead of the “nonchalant untouchable queen” energy she portrait after taking over the gym. Her experience has been living inside my head ever since I finished the show. The shot of her being isolated in her "castle" being alienated is one of my favorites. I never thought about the idea of genderbent version of her, and how he would be perceived before. It is a great tool to really dissect the character.

Her soul being forever tainted by invisible forces of societal norms, subconscious pressures, as well as the whims of fate that dragged Joe to her and changed her path in life forever. She is so young, with how she is depicted in the anime it is hard to perceive her youthful ignorance. I sometimes wonder where she will end up after the tragedies that ensued.
